I've been a bit busy lately but I thought I'd comment on this post Josh made about credulous reporters. This is not the first time he's said this kind of thing and I completely agree.... but it wouldn't be a post if I didn't criticize him.
When these reporters tell you that Josh Marshall, do you.... TELL THEM the truth? Try to make them see? I know you see yourself as a journalist first (which I've complained about and will continue to complain later) and as a democratic partisan blogger a distant second, but isn't it incumbent on you to set the record straight?
All I ever hear is a complaint: Josh you're in a unique position to be part of the solution.

I appreciate the self-conscious hesitation in your post, which shows that you're basically aware of this . . . but, dude?
What do you think Josh is doing when he mocks reporters on a website . . . read by reporters? What . . . I mean, it boggles the mind.
TPM is not "part" of the solution. It's, like, 65% of the solution.

Read that story a long time ago, and obviously what is happening now is not having as much of an effect as you hope.
It can't compare with a personal person-to-person contact by someone. It's a lot easier to ignore a blog post and continue on your ignorant way.

Was I hoping for a world where there would be *no* more ignorant and uninformed reporting?
If so, I was pretty naive.
As for your second ¶: I'm glad that you feel I can have a bigger impact than Josh just by calling my sister-in-law who works at CNN. I'll go call her now, and wait for my write-up in the Politico.

I know exactly how much you were hoping for, 65%, you said so yourself.
It's the same reason Obama's campaign stresses person-to-person contacts over blanket advertising in getting to people. Individuals speaking as individuals have credibility.
I would hope your sister in law would think more carefully about producing hack faux-objective news pieces if you spoke to her about it. If she's just a tech or something then that's different, but here Josh is talking about those who actually produce the product.
