A Top Arizona Journalist Runs Down McCain History - lots of info with some new, damning anecdotes
Just out today is an article from one of Arizona's best journalists (two-time Press Club Journo of the Year) going over John McCain's history in AZ. A MUST READ!!! CHECK IT OUT: http://phoenixnewtimes.com/content/printVersion/848709
(By the way, a couple of her anecdotes mesh well with my first impressions of him when I was a young news reporter covering his first campaign for the Senate.)

Wow, do the republicans have any qualified, competent people to nominate? This guy really is Bush, III.

On a list of a (baker's) dozen reasons why McCain will lose, #9 and #11.
9. The Skeleton Factor: The Keating Five and lobbyists, need I say more.
10. The Anger Problem: It’s real.

Every voter should read this New Times article. As someone who grew up in AZ with a Republican father who HATED McCain, I'm wondering how long it will take the national media to find the skeletons in this guy's closet.

The problem is the national media outlets ALREADY KNOW. They choose not to expose it because it would hurt the close horserace theme they want to push. The only way this stuff get out there is if we in the blogosphere make such a loud stink about it that they can no longer ignore it.

I'll also call you attention to the McCain posts on my blog, Rogue Columnist
http://roguecolumnist.typepad.com/rogue_columnist/
I was a journalist for seven years and watched McCain's indifference to, and bad policies toward, his "home state."

Damn! Jon Talton!?! We miss you down here in the desert - you wrote great columns! I'm glad you left the Republic - given the apparent circumstances - but I sure wish you were still down here speaking out with that great platform! I just glanced at your blog, but long enough to recommend it to other TPM'ers that haven't read you before.

The article is interesting, though mostly anecdotal. The shocker is the link it includes to the story from back in 1999: "An Endowed Chair."
Turns out Paxson being able to buy two letters from McCain to the head of the FCC for $10k back in 2000 was just the tip of the iceberg. The article runs down a LONG laundry list of legislation and favors that lobbyists were able to 'buy' from their "Maverick" John McCain, and is here:

Looks like its time for this old news to get some sunshine.

I'm glad you pointed out the link to that article. I think that was one of the articles that contributed to her Journalist of the Year Award.
