Cindy McCain's forgotten half-sister...

Last Tuesday, NPR broadcast a story about Cindy McCain's business and charity work. In it, Ted Robbins described McCain as the only child of Jim Hensley, a wealthy Arizona businessman. The next morning, NPR received an e-mail from Nicholas Portalski of Phoenix, who heard the story with his mother.

"We were listening to the piece about Cindy McCain on NPR, All Things Considered, and it just struck us very hard," Portalski said.

His mother, Kathleen Hensley Portalski, is also Hensley's daughter.

The Portalski family is accustomed to hearing Cindy McCain described as Hensley's only child.

She's been described that way by news organizations from The New Yorker and The New York Times to Newsweek and ABC.

McCain herself routinely uses the phrase "only child," as she did on CNN last month. "I grew up with my dad," she said then. "I'm an only child. My father was a cowboy, and he really loved me very much, but I think he wanted a son occasionally."

McCain's father was also a businessman — and twice a father.

Admittedly we don't know if this side of the family is the proverbial black sheep side, however when you have $100M fortune and seven houses while your half-sister is living "modestly" at best something is wrong with this picture.

For the record Cindy also has a half-sister from her Mother as well.

Interesthing that Cindy's father was a bomber pilot in WW2 and was injured and sent to Virginia for treatment and while there and still married to his first wife, met Cindy's mother and married her in 1945.  Cindy's step-sister was two years old at the time her father left.

What does all this mean?  Largely nothing. There could be a lot more to this story.

Exactly. I'm sort of surprised that Cindy inherited the bulk of his estate and not her mother. Was her Mom already deceased?

It means that Cindy McCain is insensitive to these kinds of things when she talks.

What an eyeopener!

At least she is no longer ripping off charities to get illegal drugs to feed her monkey.

At least that's the story Jerome Corsi wants us to believe. LOL

Another reason why McBushSame is not electable!!!

This is so f*cked up. Cindy McCain is a horrible hag: a bizarro Cinderella. She's like one of Cinderella's evil stepsisters only she seems to have gotten the princess treatment and made sure that her forgotten stepsister stays in the kitchen scrubbing floors.

It kind of reminds me of a story about how Julian Lennon has struggled at times while Sean Lennon has enjoyed all of the fruits of his father's labors because of Yoko. Ono wasn't even as bad as Cindy McCain is to her father's other children. At least Yoko has sort of hooked up Julian Lennon.

Thanks for this post Zentrail. It made me sick. Cindy McCain was already evil for her hostility and opposition to Mothers Against Drunk Driving, but this really shows what a greedy piece of work she is. It makes sense that she supports Grampa Munster for president.

It means that Cindy McCain was attracted to someone like her old man. Noun-Verb-War Hero dumped his first wife just like Cindy's father did.

I think this does mean something -- namely, that Cindy McCain, as well as John McCain, has no problem whatsoever distorting the truth; furthermore, she has no problem making the presentation of those distortions, fact. And she shows the arrogance of people in the -- dare I say it -- celebrity bubble, of thinking that her outright lies or distortions of fact will fly, without demur. So far, so good, right? I used to feel sorry for Cindy Barbie-doll Stepford Wife McCain. No longer.

The McCain's are selfish, lying toads. That is what this means. Cindy's pathology is even more pathetic -- why does she accept such a sick relationship with her -ugh- husband? Did her father insult her in front of others too? How could she deny her half-sister's existence?

Oh, I know! Because Kathleen (the sister) wasn't left any money by her father, she is therefore unimportant. The irony of Cindy's father's adultery with her mother and the shame she SHOULD feel about her own adultery with her OWN husband (as they cheated on his then-wife) probably justifies (in her own mind) her terrible treatment of her half-sister.

After all, since her sister doesn't make $5 million a year we know she isn't rich, and is therefore unimportant.

Good place to ask a question that has been bugging me. This new book of Meghan McCain's -- John McCain has 7 children:

Douglas - 1st wife Carol's son whom he adopted
Andrew - 1st wife Carol's son whom he adopted
Sidney -- daughter with 1st wife Carol
Meghan - daughter with 2nd wife Cindy
John Sidney McCain IV "Jack" - son with Cindy
James - son with Cindy
Briget - adopted daughter with Cindy

All are featured on his web site
http://www.johnmccain.com/about/mccainchildren.htm
and I'd always thought it spoke well of him that he continued (I'd read) to be an involved father with all of them.

But recently I read that Meghan McCain's new book for children simply omits any mention of the three children from his first marriage. Does anyone know if this is true? (I'll be damned if I buy the book to find out!)
