Colorado in Play.... seriously

Habitual lurker here... Saw a story on huffpost that I think needs to get pushed in the blogosphere that could have some major blow-back on McSame.

Individuals that are better than I on cross-posting perhaps could help push this story:

http://www.huffingtonpost.com/joseph-romm/mccain-to-colorado-drop-d_b_119411.html

Some key highlights (I apologize ahead of time for my lack of HTML skills, "" will represent quotes)

"What epic gaffe could unite Colorado's Democratic Senator Ken Salazar -- "over my dead body" -- and Republican U.S. Senate candidate Bob Schaffer -- "Over my cold, dead, political carcass"?"

ON water redistribution to lower basin States:

"That would be Arizona Senator John McCain telling The Pueblo Chieftan on Thursady that he wants to renegotiate the famous 1922 Colorado River compact to take water from the so-called upper basin states, including CO and NM, where the river originates and give it to lower basin states like his home state of AZ"

"Them's fighting words -- literally! The word rival, after all, comes from "people who share the same river." In the West they say, "Whiskey's for drinking, water's for fighting." See also "Warming Will Worsen Water Wars."

Just thought I would pass this along.

This will sink McCain in Colorado.

I grew up in southern Colorado, Ken Salazar's district, and you have no idea what a big deal water rights are in the state.
Coloradans fight with each other over water all the time, take each other to court kinda fights, but nothing unites them like telling them that more of "their" water should go to Arizona for golf courses and Vegas for fountains and swimming pools.

This will hurt McCain in New Mexico, too.

Yes indeed. I am a Coloradoan and this was the one time I am aware of that Ken Salazar represented us well when he stated that it would be 'over his dead body'. Mark Udall can use this and so can Senator Obama. We have farmers, ranchers, fisherman, hunters, we are a very recreation oriented state. We pay more taxes so that we can preserve parks and open space. You do not want to mess with Colorado when it comes to our water or environment. You can't build your nuclear plant here...we've been there done that and are still cleaning up. We have already had to deal with drought issues over the past many years so no Senator McCain (and please remember you are still just a senator) you cannot touch our water.

Just cross NM and CO off McCain's list.

Obama, being a Great Lakes State Senator could talk to Coloradans from an "On your side/I know exactly where you are coming from" perspective that would really resonate. The Great Lakes States recently ratified a pact to protect the Great Lakes from exportation to the dusty south.

The Obama Campaign needs to jump on this issue and at least run a localized campaign much like the ones they are running in Nevada (Yucca Mountain) and Ohio (DHL).

The question is, how well reported will this story be? If it only gets reported in a couple of small papers, it will have little impact. This needs to be reported over and over again to get the bulk of the CO residents to be informed.

Colorado is not in play. Obama has it securely.

Not just Colorado, but all the other states in that agreement that are "giving" water to McCain's favorite states.

Believe me, all those states are going to be inundated with Obama ads pointing out McCain's foolish statement about the water treaty.

McCain's toast, the election is now over.
