I Never Tought I'd Say This, But Can I hear More From John McCain?

There's been a lot of discussion about the media giving McCain a pass due to their man crush on him or fear of... I'm not sure what they're supposed to be afraid of, but they are. They can continue to give him a pass as long as they just keep talking to him. This gaffe of not knowing how many houses reminded me that John McCain runs into trouble as soon as he opens his mouth. This is why his campaign took away his cell phone and have kept him away from reporters. Talk is definitely something they don't want on the Straight Talk Express. The media can continue to fluff him on his war record and fail to fact check any assertions he makes as long as they just talk to him. He's good enough at sabotaging himself.

Please John. I want to hear more from you.

Well said, sir. I'm hoping his so-called success at Saddlebag, or whatever that church is called, will tempt McCain into being even more of a hawk than he was there, in which case all of a America will get to see what a scary little dude he is.

I'm not sure what they're supposed to be afraid of, but they are.

I think the media is afraid of being cut off from access. Access is their life-blood; their credentials.

McCain has a history of cutting off reporters or news organizations he has “issues” with. That was highlighted by Torie Clark, McCain’s 1983 press secretary, in yesterday’s CNN airing of McCain Revealed. Clark recalled that McCain reacted strongly to a political cartoon published in The Arizona Republic news paper…

He just said, 'I want nothing to do with these people -- I want nothing to do with them. .... That's it. We're done. We're not talking to them anymore.' "

That boycott lasted a year, says Clarke.

McCain himself refused to talk to anyone at the newspaper, whether they worked in Washington or Arizona, for the news department or the editorial page.

His staff knew it wasn't a boycott meant just for the senator. "It was well understood you don't talk to them," Clarke says.

To be sure, this still occurs today. Take a look at this short clip of John McCain as recent as July 25th of this year.

McCain has a long memory and seems to carry a grudge. The media are acutely aware of this and seem to have been hobbled by it.
