I whitnessed history....., but almost didnt!

My day started out with text messages from friends, whats up today. I replied, "Im sick". I have this sinus infection and its getting into my teeth, doctor appt: at 2:45 p.m. I was in so much pain. I was a little depressed that I had not been able to get downtown to all the events going on, because well, unemployed right now, not alot of money. Thought it tragic that the people I watch on t.v., blog about, send emails and letters too, drive my friends crazy talking about, would be in my home town and I could  not enjoy the celebration. I was a volunteer for the convention, but of course was never called to help.
So my plans today were to go to the doctor, get some pain meds, and come home, grab some tea, and kick back and watch this historic speech. So as Im sitting on the doctors table thermometor in my mouth my phone goes off. There is a text message from a good friend, "Hey Sean, I got an extra ticket for the convention would you like to come?"Hell yeah, I replied,  startling the Dr.......... So I get to the Rx, pick up my meds, run home get my hat, and head to Mile High Stadium. I parked a block away on a side street, really no hassle at all, but as I walked up federal blvd, I was astonished at how many people. So now I had to find my partner with the tickets. "Meet me at 19th and Federal" he said. I get there, and he is knowhere. Seems as soon as he got there, the police put up tape and forced people to form this line. I had missed two calls from him, and now was frantically trying to call him. Finally he picked up, Sean we have moved we are further down and you cant get here.  This line was huuuuuge. By this time Im freaking out. I walk up to an officer, and say, I had to run to my car, before I did this tape wasn't up and someone has my tix. Yes I lied, but I was desperate. He bent over whispered in my ear, "go back up to Burger King, and come back down that hill". Just as I got to the bottom, the line(s) start moving. I see my friend just in time before he would have been out of sight. I mash through the people, reach him and the line takes off, police yelling this way. I barely made it, just barely. So I get through the winding line and after about an hour, get to the front. To my right, I see this dude walk by that looked familliar. It was Chuck D!....I thought Chuck D is in line with the common folk.....lol....It was such a spectacular evening. I so proud of my City. Im so proud of this Country, Im so proud of the Obama's. I got to whitness history, and for a good portion of the evening, forgot how bad my face and jaw was hurting.....Just wanted to share my experience.....:)
