Obama foreign policy slogan: A cool head, and a steady hand on the trigger
I hope that Obama makes McCain's inclination toward military confrontation a major issue. McCain's inclination is well-documented. So is his temper and his impetuous nature.
I think that even many of McCain's backers will be worried about this, if it is pointed out to them. I saw video of a McCain rally the other day, in which Lieberman praised McCain's tension-escalating rhetoric over Russia and Georgia. The crowd was surprisingly tepid in response.
No one wants more wars right now. We've had enough for a while. If they know McCain's basic nature, few will want his hand on the trigger.

I've posted about the same thing. And I think we are both right, check out the comments on the CNN board -- usually a very balanced crowd, all scathing about McWar:

I may faint...is it even remotely possible that the msm (sorry, I've lost so much respect for them I HAVE to start using small letters!) could be in the beginning stages of realizing their error in giving McCain so much favorable press?

We need a poster of McCain, in Bermuda shorts, shouting, "Get off Georgia's lawn!"

It's interesting: the Republicans keep living in the past when the security moms voted for more beliigence in order to make them feel "safe". Moms are still moms; and their children get older, can't afford college, know that McCain's military-is-every-answer-every-time means a draft for their children in the future and perpetual war. Because of the McSame policies, we see how wars should not be fought and not be paid for and what those consequences are.
So a cool head and reluctant trigger finger and a look toward peace and diplomacy as part of the mix, looks much more attractive.
But that would require John McCain to join the 21st century.
