Okay, Fess Up and I'll Play Nice

Was it yesterday or today people were saying, "Hillary should put out an 'I don't approve of this message' on the McCain ads, but she won't. She endorsed him and she'll pay for that."

So here it is:
I don't approve of this message.

So here's your chance, all of you Obama fans. Let's hear your chant of approval, how Hillary popped out an unequivocal message of unity and support, an anti-McCain slam that nails shut her conviction. Recommend this motherfucker up to 100. Rock the charts. Show me you're serious about this unity I keep hearing about. Show me you want to win in November, not that you want to keep fighting primary grievances and repeating primary slurs.

Let me hear you say "Yeah!!!"

Well I said hell yeah! Did I go to far? :)

I'll show you mine if you show me yours. *wink wink*

Sleazy is fine here, as long as it's in good cheer. Wink wink.

I heard it on the radio this am and I was delighted! Good for Hillary! Keep up the good work -- yeah!

I give you my Rec for the sake of us all; let's hope that Hillary & Bill at least do enough this week that nobody with a half a brain will point at them if Obama fails; that's all we can ask for at this point. She can't deliver him anything but as long as she does enough then it's solely on the shoulders of Obama to carry this through.

Well, I was one who said yesterday, that there was no need for her to have to do so, and I gave her props for how she has been supportive of Obama, so good for her. I look forward to watching her convention night, and I am sure that both her and Bill will do a great job of promoting party healing.

Keep your eyes on the prize folks:

It is The Supreme Court. Do not ever lose sight of that fact. Do you want McCain to be the one who gets to pick the person who will replace Justice Stevens!.

Make sure you have your priorities in order.

Hillary stepping up to the plate as usual...but was she wearing a cilce when she said it?

Don't go neg on me, Deej - this is a positive thread - we're aiming for 100, and that can be us rebels as well. This is a TPM-hugathon, and I think I finally found the recipe, which we'll soon see.

Democrats Kick Ass '08, feel the power.

Desi, you rec-whore ;o)

This is stadium whoring, DJ, we're doing the wave. Love-a-thon Mile High Stadium like. Okay, might not pack in 80,000 in this l'il ol' thread, but this ol' sailor will take on what he can.

A song for Dij. A lil bit of Freedom.

Yeah! Yeah! Yeah! Now can she just get Carville and Begalia to "SHUT UP!"?

Positive, keep it stepping positive. Deep breaths, down your spine, fill your chakras. Exhale slowly.

yes, WE can...
Thank you, Desidero.

Since I get to be DJ tonight WW, here's a little something from your favourite island. Pure pop from UPEI's finest moppets - Two Hours Traffic.

I never said Hillary ought to...

But if it will seal the deal for you, I'll rec this post gladly.

I think since she conceded Clinton has been very supportive. I think it is really unfair to hang the actions of a handful of PUMA dead enders on Clinton. After all she wasn't even able to control the actions of her senior campaign staffers.

I think the supposed dispute between the Obama and Clinton camps is largely a product of talking hairdos, and should be dismissed as the latest media echo.

Accepted, but for other viewers, let's steer away from these play-by-plays. We're skimming across the harbor here, heading back to dock, no time for lobster traps and bass fishing. People did their jobs, did their best, we had winners and losers, but now we're aiming for the prize. Full throttle, cap'n. Good vibrations. Ride on the sloop John B. And if I can quote Beach Boys without throwing up, the rest of you can keep this thread going positive too. Wouldn't it be nice?

Okay, I hate to do it, but I have to step out. I hope when I wake up from my slumbers I'll find 100 recs, 200 positive statements, a new spirit, a kernel of what we can take to other blogs. Let's do it, campers. Now or never. Unity '08. Keep it positive, eye on the prize. Deep breaths, cleared karma, heading for samadhi land. Om padhi padhi om....

Fuck this, Des, and fuck you. This is your head fake, your entitlement game in high gear.

You want everyone here to kiss your ass and rec a post that rubs every Democrat's nose in the shitpile of your self-absorption and conceit.

If I could take back my recommendation, I would. You don't want unity. You want vengeance. You aren't after building reconciliation. You want to sling humiliation.

I'm off my knees. Kiss my ass and vote McCain. No one owes you a fucking thing. You owe your country a wise choice. Blow it for yourself and all women everywhere, if that's what you want. You'll be blowing McCain's wrinkled pecker.

Rec your post? No until you refrain from wrecking the best hope for our future that.

You're a fucking Ellen Jamesian.

Lovely, Rip. Folks, step along, a big tent, we can even have a few Luddites raving against progress here, understand where he's coming from, I'm certainly no angel of mercy, but really Rip, the Recs are not about me - they're about the concept. I said I was waiting for a hand across the aisle, but I'm not waiting anymore - Hillary did a bang-up job of expressing solidarity, and I'm using the moment to push it through. It's just a small band, a small blog, but this is my hood, where I've been hanging out. Think globally, act locally. So hold contempt if you want, but I'm trying to take it a step further. Buy you a beer?

Preconditioning the remote possibility of your support on our self-abasement is no way to reconcile differences with people who've had quite enough of being called "bots", far too much of your petty hatred, and far too much patience while seeing our dreams for turning this country around flung like Dutch shoes into the gears of the Clinton and PUMA machines. It is manipulation at its worst for you to command any act from those who simply have supported the only Democrat left standing and have never asked anything more than the same from you.

P.S. If you're serious, YOU have to buy the first round.

I'm just doing my best for party unity, Rip, and God knows it hasn't been easy for me to find this sweet spot. How about joining me in this Hail Jesus moment instead of getting in a lather? It's an epiphany, a seed of salvation. We all know McCain is a moron who's indebted to the wrong type of people, the ones who've taken us into this mess. And quite frankly I'm interested more in people power, so I'm asking all of you, do the right thing, suspend your doubt, find the spirit you've been really talking about all these months, and let's kick ass. We can start a revolution right here, right now. They talk about fights at the convention? Well here's a blog that can turn around in 24 hours, get past the turmoil. Eins zwei drei. What is important for you?

Christ almighty, I'll buy the first 3 rounds, no prob. Beer whoring is what I'm best at.

PS - none of those fancy umbrella-monkey drinks though, I don't have that much of a budget.

Then if you will cast your past vitriol for Obama to the depths and remember it no more, I will likewise forgive and forget. Unity is not a joke. Please don't treat it as such.

If you ARE serious, then I apologize. Welcome to the future. And thank you.

Apologies are about the past. I dropped ballast. Full speed ahead, no looking back. But remember, it's all about us.

I would be honored to work beside you.

I'll buy for the both of you. In fact, I'll buy Ripper two (that's for you insulting my Raised-By-Dogs story, Des. I'm still bitter.) Gonna save my Rec 'til we reach 99 though. Make Des buy it off me, then contribute it to Obama. YEAH BABY!

See, I'm so post-Unity baby I'll even accept blackmail. Knowing that Quinn is such a lush that he'll close this bar anyway.

When do the cats and dogs start playing together?

Negotiating over what kind of nip to use.

Good point. Different body chemistry.

Ripper, I wish I could Recommend your comment.

Clinton does what is best for the party and some of her own people (and supporters) won't accept that. Honestly, in my eyes, the supporters who won't let go are dissing HER directly.

She stepped up to the plate and hit a homer. Good for her.

Right, Joanne. That's why, when referring to those folks, you should stop invoking her name. It's an insult. Call them what they are: McCain supporters.

We're trying to pull this train together, Laura - climb aboard the Love Train - you can't fight the power of the O'Jays, can you?

LOVE the O'Jays. I'm sold, Des.

Before they had a hit with Love Train, the O'Jays rocked our world with Back Stabbers.

Just sayin'.

Oh, well. Let's take Desi's word for it this time. What've we got to lose?

I think Desi's sincere.

I agree with Laura (who it's very nice to have back). This is what Des is really trying to say in this post.

Great one Dij. Who knew Chris Dodd was so photogenic?

It's good that she said that today. But I'm reserving my rec until after HRC's speech tomorrow.

If she knocks it out of the park, I'll rec this AND put up a blog praising her for the speech. (I'm already donating $25/mo between now and November to her, so I'm doing my part for unity.)

And I praised her for her concession speech - though I did say I wished it had been delivered on June 3 instead of June 6. So it won't be the first time I've given her props.

1. This is not an ad. She should make one though. standing next to Obama and Biden.

2. I think it is fair to say that Hillary Clinton has been lock stock and barrel behind the democratic nominee. People who can't see that are blind. The people around her are another thing.

I am pretty tired of the back and forth-out there and in here. I guess it's a couple days for you to have your catharsis and then we can get on to the real fight. I have no doubt Mrs. Clinton is ready for battle. But then again she is a grown up.

We're all grownups. Let's pull together.

Right on.

The election has, in fact, just begun. It's hard to remind ourselves of that after 18 months.

I, for one, trust my fellow democrats can tell the difference.

Right on. Economides, I've seen and liked a lot of the comments you've made lately. I like the way you talk.

Des, I again compliment her June 7 speech, and I posted before June 3 that she would concede graciously. I appreciate her work on this message, and want to see much more on the anniversary of women's suffrage.

It isn't, as a friend of mine wrote this morning to me, that Obama needs her. The point is that Democrats need her help to take control of each branch of the government. We need all Democrats, and most especially her help now. She needs Obama for the same reason. We need the hug for the same reason. Democrats aren't the lockstep party, she's right, but let's be aspirational and come together more than we have. Of course the longtime Obama fans like me appreciate it, but I think all Democrats appreciate her solidarity and leadership at this time, and look to her for more.

Was that good enough?

Perfectly fine, thanks much. Train kept a rollin' all night long....

I addressed and dispatched Mr. Sirota in another thread, this train is bound for glory, no stopping for ne'er-do-wells unless they're the right kind of ne'er-do-wells. Freedom Train, cue the Temptations.

You know, I can't stand Wolfson, but I actually thought it was good advice. Poorly timed? Yeah. Could it have been handled internally? Yeah. I'm still hoping against hope that this is a well-thought-out orchestrated plan to use the media's whoredom against them and showcase unity for everyone. Imagine if the week ended with Bill, Barack, Hillary, and Biden directing everything they've got at the GOP. That would be awesome. So much awesomer than rehashing the primary stuff again and again and again and again and again.

Hustling for recs will get you everywhere. :-)

I'm not looking for recs, I'm looking for teen spirit.

What's that smell like?

Locker room, but I can cope. I'm taking it for the team.

Here we are now, entertain us.

Dude, too literal, I was looking for geeks in ape costumes. Or metatorsal lumbations. We have got to get it together. Right now.

Sorry. Some of us aren't as sophisticated as you are. We're Pavlovian. Or reptilian. Idunno. But if you say "teen spirit" I automatically think "smells like."

I enjoyed the link you provided, btw.

I'm not that sophisticated - it was probably a Magical Mystery Tour flashback. Goo goo ga joob.

Desidero is one of those self absorbed people who has to make everything all about them.

I posted what Hillary said, on Ripper's Selective Hear thread, two full hours before Des decided to make it all about Des the narcissist.

Here is what I posted, and I did not feel the need to rub salt in other's wounds, like Des does.

By the way: check out Desidero's thread, just before this one, and you will see that she/or he has not the slightest intention of promoting party unity.

http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2008/08/25/hillary-clinton-at-the-dn_n_121179.html

DENVER — Hillary Rodham Clinton preached unity Monday in her first appearance at the Democratic National Convention, insisting she is doing everything possible to prove her full support for Barack Obama.

The New York senator was quick to put Republican John McCain in her sights, saying the de facto GOP nominee was running ads using her words to try to divide the Democrats.

Clinton's response: "I'm Hillary Clinton, and I do not approve that message."

"There is no doubt in anyone's mind that this is Barack Obama's convention," she said, adding that it is only natural for there to be some lingering issues to resolve after a tough primary.

"It would have been the same way if I had won and Barack was here supporting the unity of the party. This was a hard fought campaign and there was a lot of intensity and passion associated with it, in part because of the historic nature of our two candidacies."

Part of her job at the convention will be letting those delegates know "that however they decide to vote, we will all be united behind Senator Obama," she said.

"We have a very good working relationship and it is through that relationship that we have worked out a lot of the issues," she said. "I have done more in the last two months than people in my position historically have done and I am going to keep doing it."

liam, I am likewise suspicious. But if there is any change we can believe in, it must start with us. I am willing to hope and willing to welcome those only now coming around. I know you want to do the same for Des, too.

It's a Slow Turning.

But we'll get there.

Lets drink to the hard working people
Lets drink to the lowly of birth
Raise your glass to the good and the evil
Lets drink to the salt of the earth

Say a prayer for the common foot soldier
Spare a thought for his back breaking work
Say a prayer for his wife and his children
Who burn the fires and who still till the earth

And when I search a faceless crowd
A swirling mass of gray and
Black and white
They dont look real to me
In fact, they look so strange

Raise your glass to the hard working people
Lets drink to the uncounted heads
Lets think of the wavering millions
Who need leaders but get gamblers instead

Spare a thought for the stay-at-home voter
His empty eyes gaze at strange beauty shows
And a parade of the gray suited grafters
A choice of cancer or polio

And when I look in the faceless crowd
A swirling mass of grays and
Black and white
They dont look real to me
Or dont they look so strange

Lets drink to the hard working people
Lets think of the lowly of birth
Spare a thought for the rag taggy people
Lets drink to the salt of the earth

Des, you are supremely provocative, possibly narcissistic, and decidedly addicted, in spite of yourself, to every moment of schadenfreude that providence will grant you this season, but the thought of this place without your ilk does disturb me.

You just keep questioning our magnetic North in spite of the stones pelted at you every time. There is always a chance that your compass is the one that is not broken. My opinion is that North has shifted and none of us have quite as yet adjusted adequately. These are exciting times.

Who put the "narc" in narcissist? DES! Who can pronounce "schadenfreude"? DES! Who has absolutely NO compass (moral or otherwise) to speak of? DES!

How was that for upbeat team-building, eh Des?

Yes, AdAb, I can't get my bearings and question my moral compass and see Quinn Esquimos beneath me, so somehow I must be polar or even bipolar. More than I can bear.

Oh wait, l'Esquimau is above, how did that happen? Now I'm having my doubts - can I call this whole thing off? Frayed knot, okay, Canucks above, so below, must be a call for Tom Tom Club.

Je vous en prie, Stop making sense.

From here in Texas, I say hayull yayuh!

If we can use our anger at Bush and the Republican Party in a positive way, we can coalesce to run as many of those f*ckers as possible out of federal, state, and local governments this fall.

I wanna see Texas turn blue, starting with the Presidential electoral votes and going all the way down the ticket. Or at least come so close it makes the smug f*ckers in the Republican Party sh*t their pants.

Once we've accomplished that, I wanna see us work harder to make the Democratic Party continue to earn our support.

The funny thing is, Laura, we are the Democratic Party. We just have to act that way.

Oh Money Pad My Home,
Oh Money Pad My Home...

The Play of Consciousness,

In this case, yours.

Hell, even I can unwind, Rec'ed baby!

While I seldom agree with you, I like to point out when I do.

That's one of the best comments of the year.

What he said.

Ok - Articleman needs something fairly Shinsy - Silhouettes maybe?

Whaddya say, A-man?

Ok - Articleman needs something fairly Shinsy - Silhouettes maybe?

Whaddya say, A-man?

Quinn, sorry to take over the DJ duties, but this comment needs musical commentary. The unity train is pulling into the station and we just need to Get Down On It

Deej, after we get down on it, can we please do some bustin' loose? Please? I Feel Like Bustin Loose. Gimme the bridge, y'all!

Interesting nut you are, Des. Sometimes a walnut, tough shell to crack and still have to clean out the bitter underneath to find the fruit. Sometimes the artifically sweet almond they used to serve on airplanes.

Apt metaphor, Melissa. :-)

I'm a cucumber, I'm a cucumber, I'm a cucumber, I'm a cucumber, I'm a cucumber, I'm a cucumber - please don't take me to the pickle farm.

Or maybe one of those salty boiled peanuts that aint so tough in the shell after all but takes some gettin' used to.

I'll go with that, then. You'll always be a soft , salty boiled peanut to me.

Barfoot! Good to see you. Since you're a late night kinda gal, something late-night-smooth-n-cool is probably best. Santana maybe. Game of Love.

Written by the same guy who did the New Radicals song I linked for lally.

Good to see you, too, quinn. Thanks so much for the tune, a perfect fit. You're always spot on!

I just watched it on MSNBC and she put the oomph into it. Post is rec'd and Hillary rocked it. Hope to see fire from everybody in the RIGHT DIRECTION (at the Republicans for those of you slow to board the unity train) all week and thereafter.

Good statement, both in message and in style.

user-pic

Nice work des. You da mushroom cloud. Rec'd!

Bruce. For you... my favourite song of these past 10 years. Pete Townshend's own version of Behind Blue Eyes. From 2:30 on, something to help carry us all through.

Yea-us

High five to my brother, (um, or sister.... no offense intended)

Time to clean house people! ENOUGH! The big Republican inept crony lysol turbo flush has begum.

Desidero, will you yank the lever, please?

(clink)

Four legs good, 2 legs + wings better.

And how many legs do you have?

Not a leg to stand on.

Look, I really have to sleep, but I hope you all can keep up the party. Quinn, we need a DJ. Deej, we need some slam dancing. Tonight we're going to party like it's 1066. 9901? 1999? Something like that. Race across the channel. Back in a bit. Don't let us down.

Sun Goin' Down?

You may have to get up to shout at this one. Me? I'm happy.

Alright, I meant it now, I'm gone for a bit, we're #6 on the hits chart and rising, be good, get it on, Bang a Gong

user-pic

I'm of the opinion that Hillary should stay off the campaign trail unless she can improve on her desultory performance thus far. I don't blame her, BTW. She finally really got into campaigning on her own behalf, but doesn't love the whole circus for it's own sake. I am not surprised that she can't transfer that enthusiasm to Obama nor would I expect it under the circumstances.

Bill is another matter. If he can finally decide that the "Dick McBushes" are the enemy instead of Obama, Bill Clinton could be awesome on the stump. I watched a bit of an interview with him not long ago in which he practically begged to be sent out to campaign for Obama. Recalling how much Bill loves retail politikin', this skeptic didn't doubt his sincerity one little bit, not one little bit.

Bill Clinton, if he can remember who/what it is he's campaigning for and/or against and stick to the script, would once again show us all that he is still the undisputed master of the game. Nobody does it better. Nobody.

Damn, it would be such fun to watch Bill Clinton ripping it up on the campaign trail for Obama/Biden and the Democratic party....

This is a unity thread, lally. Get on Desi's train with the rest of us! Quinn is the DJ at this party. You can request tunes from him, but I'm sure he'll insist they don't have a divisive theme.

Hey lally. Yeah, Big Bill WOULD rip it up. Me? I miss him. Remember We Got The Dreamer's Disease.

New Radicals.

I'm joining.

user-pic

I'll say amen.

user-pic

That's my version of "unity".

It's tempered by "reality".

All right....Ben Smith put up videos of Clinton speaking to the NY delegation and to Hispanics in Denver today.

If she delivers a speech tomorrow night with the force she delivered her remarks today, she'll absolutely bring the house down.

Giving up the rec now in hopes of a roof-raiser tomorrow...

One love for the eastside.

And in hopes Hillary rocks the house.

Quinn's the DJ, Rip's the slapper. :-)

But, since we're doing the whole Unity thing now, here's a song for Stephanie. RIP, Congresswoman.

user-pic

It was a good reply by Hillary. I'm delighted.

Why wouldn't I be?

I got over being annoyed with and mad at Hillary a long time ago - once she finally got that it was over and endorsed Obama. I'm just happy to have her around. We need her. I don't happen to think her career is over by any means.

She knows the only way her career could possibly be threatened is if she's seen in any way to be impairing Obama.

The Oliver Stone junkie in me is a little worried about tomorrow. But the objectivist in me says Hillary's going to absolutely crush tomorrow's speech.

Incidentally, Mark Warner's the "keynote", but Hillary Clinton speaks after him. Warner's going to go all positive in his speech, so I think Hillary's been scheduled for the specific purpose of lowering ye olde boom on Senator Straight Talk.

user-pic

I'll be brief: yeah!

user-pic

Now des - let's hear you respond in kind.

Have you gotten over being mad and annoyed that Hillary didn't win the nomination?

Hey Tena. As Des-ignated DJ this eve, I also have full authority to sign that daft bastard Des up to anything I want. So.... he says YES to giving up annoyance. (I remain unsure whether he'll give up the madness - in a clinical sense - but halfway is halfway.) Tonight, it's nothin' but a Love Shack in here.

Madness is endemic and encouraged and expected. And a great band.

Should have noted that 6 or 8 thousand years ago they laid down the law. In Mesopotamia.

Rec'd #37.

Michelle Obama is up on the stage.

Honestly, I never thought to live to see this day...

Me either, Lux. Me either.

Man, she presents one hell of a package. Statuesque, whip-smart and impassioned. Great inflection in her speech. Good family moment at the end, too. "A" for choreography.

Yep. Ace's for Michelle. Amazingly well done.

for decades the Republicans have been sending millionaires in front of us, and those millionaires posed to us as if they were one of us, "commoners".

Now I saw a real person. Someone who really is one of us.

Very emotional moment.

I'm a son of a single mother, who struggled to provide for me and my brother. Were it not for my grandmother, we'd have been on the streets more than once in my childhood.

I admit, I was stirred by Michelle's speech. I couldn't get Shirley Chisholm's 1972 campaign slogan out of my head: "Unbought And Unbossed". You can't buy the emotion and intensity she delivered.

Sam Cooke's great song "A Change is Gonna Come" comes to my mind:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mbYxJ-qOzdw

You do realize that he died shortly after making this record? Perhaps we can pick another tune? ;-)

I guess he was right ;-)

Now THAT was funny!

I know the spelling's off a bit, but Michelle just made it a Wild Night.

Like this Me'Shell.

user-pic

I can't wait for Hillary and Bill to bring the hammer down on McCain. I've never been much for political speeches and I won't be watching in primetime. I'll have to check in at TPM for the Youtube later, cuz that's also prime phonebanking time. If people are watching it on TV I'll ask what they think, it's an excellent icebreaker.

But I'm sure my delayed gratification will be well worth it. I'd watch Barack Obama read the phonebook, I think he's that good a speaker. But Hillary can hit it out of the park when she's on and Bill is one of the great masters. This convention to me is gonna be like watching the White Sox score 10 runs in an inning hitting back to back to back to back to back homeruns.

Surely you mean the Phillies? (Think swing state.) ;-)

Ok, 5 consecutive for the ChiSox, maybe save 3 for the Phils, and a couple for the Cards. Deal?

user-pic

Quinn the Phils are my favorite NL team having lived in South Jersey for 12 years. So yeah, it'd be about the same.

I worked the Great Northeast in Philly for Kerry on election day in 2004. Met David Morse the actor who came by the campaign office to shake a few hands and thank us for getting out the vote. We had a huge turn out and pulled in about 90% of the Philly vote for Kerry. More than offset the hillbillies and the Amish who voted for Bush and won the state.

user-pic

O god me either, and I hope they do. I hope starting tomorrow it's a relentless hammer McLame convention - it needs to be.

Man ... I really thought y'all would have had this worked out by now! It's like some sort of Groundhog Day thing .... whatever.

BTW: I think Clinton needed to hang back for awhile. It allowed the attacks of the primary to dissipate a bit so they aren't effective GOP ammo.

The anti-unity meme in the media seems to have been quite helpful, especially the way they put the responsibility for reconciliation on Obama's shoulders(even though it's annoyed some supporters to no end). It will be difficult to say "How can he campaign with Hillary after all she said?" when they just spent two months saying he needs to reach out to her! It's taken some of the bite out of that line of attack.

Now her actions will be far more effective and seem more genuine than if she had just jumped right on the Obama band wagon. Also, now she's fresh right when people report being tired of hearing about Obama all the time. This is the exact right time for the Clintons to roll out!

It'd be cool if everyone could just lighten up and enjoy the ride. The democrats clearly have the upper hand for the final push!!! This could be fun.

Unity's our baby now, our responsibility. We are the party, and we're driving the bus. Or train. Or boat. Or whatever this big thing is, it's picking up speed.

Desi,

Still narcissistic as ever. I thought we established the other night that you would for Nader and that I forbid you from giving money to Obama and the DNC.

Your world is now perfect. You can sulk in silence.

Of course, who would take note then?

I do admit your innovations to try to keep the attention on yourself, however.

NOT rec'ed.

Keep pondering, CT, the rest are piling up their arms in the corner, passing around the whiskey canteen and pondering the next step in good cheer. No time to sulk, even Nader's got the positive approach on this one. Tally forth. Achilles is engaged.

All I know is somehow you keep thinking that the convention is about you (as in personally, not you as a generic citizen). Of course, who can expect you to keep your word, or expect consistency?

I don't need you to experience party unity.

I was more impressed when you tried to post substantive things -- which was before Hillary suspended (not conceded) her campaign.

CT. For the man who has (almost) everything, a song - by Kylie.

We all KNOW you just wanna get up and dance. Shake it baby!

Ooooh, I would just love to see Rodin's Thinker get up and shake it!

$10 says CT comes back and says, "NOT Rec'ed." ;-)

Okay, still back out for a bit more, but we're almost top of the charts, #2, and the enthusiasm is growing. Play nice with each other, keep focused but friendly, we're doing well, gonna get this blog outta da house. Q? Play it, man.

Alright Des. From my personal stash - the good stuff. Best unknown band in America they say. Crunch-fest on guitars. Voice to die for. Drummer from Whiskeytown. The Damnwells.

For anyone who's ever left anyone or anything behind, and knows how hard that is. Even in politics. "I haven't landed since I fell."

Des,Hillary's quip was a step in the right direction, but she's gonna have to work a lot harder to elect Obama for me to forget the shit she pulled in the primaries. Let's see how she does on Wednesday night. You,however, are always welcome to join us in taking back this great nation for The People. I'll go you one better Des, If Hill Knocks one out of the park with her speech Wed night I'll send her 25 bucks, If you'll send 25 to Obama. Whattaya say Unity Boy?

Indepatriot, Since Des authorized me to spend his money... SURE, he's good for $25. In fact, he's good for $50. YOU, however, have to prove you can DANCE to get him to send it. Fair? A little dose of Girl Talk should do it. After all, this thing is called a Party, innit?

And here's a standard for Quinn, Martha and the Vandellas, which at the mention of Halifax, Nova Scotia is your cue to break dance. (Hold onto your tubes, don't want a floor mess)

Quinn, being a technodinosaur with a 12 yr-old PC I've got no video proof, but I CAN DANCE like a MOFO. I grew up in Detroit w/4 sisters who taught me all the 60's moves, The Pearl,The Jerk,The Philly Freeze,The Monkey,The Swim,The Fly,The Shimmy Shake,Mashed Potato,Etc..I'm not much for Mash-Ups but if Des steps up to the plate I'll fire up some Funkadelic and the Better Half and I'll turn this mutha out. Tear The Roof Off The Sucka!

I'll up you, buddy - Paint the White House Black. Hey man, smell my finger...

And Come Together for the hip-hop challenged.

You My Atomic Dog now Maggot Brain.Let's tap the funky Clinton for the sloganathon "Free Your Mind And Your Ass Will Follow."

That's Dijamo's cue, hold onto your seats...

Just for lovin' Funkadelic, I know Des'll be in for the $50 - he's a pretty fierce fan. Some Fries With that Shake '08!

Campaign sloganathon, Rebuke the Repukes, Dems Da Brakes.

"Republicans: Junk in the Trunk."

For no reason other than no reason - good to see you, quinn.

12 year old PC??? That thing have a kick-start pedal on it??

Damn! Now I'm in the mood for some George Clinton. (He was here in Austin with Parliament/Funkadelic just a few weeks ago.) They're gettin older, but damn! They put the young 'uns to shame!

Steam power, actually, but sometimes gettin the boiler fired up is a real byatch.Caught P-funk at the Nawlins Jazzfest a few years back and watched as a mohawked whiteboy tore the shit up with a half dozen older sisters who were dressed in their Sunday Finest, white gloves, big hats and all. The Power of the P-Funk transends all divisions! Love your town Laura, made it to SXSW 5-6 years in a row in early to mid 90's.Austin Rocks!

Okay, we're past the halfway point, 54 votes of unity, bitterness behind us, no more snide can't-let-go-attacks on our needed allies, putting up a solid front for TPM. River Deep, Mountain High - bloggers of the world unite, you have nothing to lose but your crayons.

I am in for a recommendation and a hearty "Fuck the past" if it makes our future election efforts run a little smoother.

I even agreed with Des not too long ago on a post about Susan Eisenhower abandoning the GOP just to vote for Obama, though I hope some of the more vitriolic and context-free rhetoric directed toward Barack ends at this spot.

Too many dems doubting Obama at this stage will stop the slow trickle of republicans voting their principals this year.

Confidence and solidarity are HOT.

Good to see you JEM. Sending you this one, just for the spoken word intro by Johnny R. Check out 8 seconds in "Mistreated."

You rang? Sorry I'm late. I was apprciating the Hillary and Bill cameo in the Paint It Black video. Awesome :)

I love everyone (mostly, sort of, expect for certain, and maybe those others).

Any punch left?

I'll wait until tonight to see how far she goes to actually try to heal the rifts.

And if she does a great job, well, she better get her manchild of a husband to quit acting like a little bitch. I'm sick of his sulking and acting like the whole country could go down on him as thanks for his greatness.

Me too, I'm at the station but want to check out the train when it pulls in tonight. Want to make sure this doesn't happen

Now can we get Hillary to step up and say she disapproves of how Rendell is bashing the media for praising Obama (after Hillary lost the primary), how Begala continues to harp on that sexist thing (like Michelle didn't experience any of that) and how Carville continues to say Obama is doing it all wrong and the first day of the convention was a total waste of time. When I hear her renounce that, then I'm with her!

Yer at 79 Des. Drastic measures may be called for tonight. Kitten-threatening comes to mind.

Then again... kitten threatening comes to MY mind when faced with pretty much any dilemma.

So you're the fiend in those videos!.

You monster!

I've put my kitten threatening behind me. All animals are equal, all are our friends.

I think it was well-put.

The problem is that McCain is now using Clinton's anti-Obama rhetoric, which is unfortunate.

A sound bite is not going to fix that. Clinton is now going to have explain why she thinks Obama is a better choice than McCain, and why she's changed her mind.

And what she says about it needs to be credible.

6 months down the road, we've all learned so much.

I believe I can fly. I believe I can touch the sky.

C'mon, dudes & dudettes, only 17 more to go to reach unity nirvana. Or more to the point, are you having fun yet?

Hmmmmm, 83 comments and we fell off the rec list?

'Tis a shame, peanut. Lots of fun and unity (mostly) had by all, so pat yourself on the back if you have one. I've no doubt you live to explode another day.

I live for explosions ;-) Pat us all on the back, if that long road has a back.
