On Live Radio, Give Howard Fineman a Piece of your Mind
We here at TPM have been talking about Howard Fineman a lot lately. Aided by Josh's videos, we've all noticed Fineman's refusal to believe that McCain has anything to do with the low road campaign.
Fineman appears tomorrow on a Philadelphia radio show -- Radio Times with Mary Moss-Coane - from 9-10 EDT. (WHYY 91FM)
This is an intelligent call-in show that gives listeners the opportunity to ask tough questions of the guests.
Here's a chance, TPM-ers, to ask Fineman why he works so hard to excuse Senator Low Road from his gutter campaign.
The call in number is 1-888-477-WHYY (1-888-477-9499).

Please Recommend so this does not disappear by tomorrow morning

In 2004, it was obvious from the get go that Fineman didn't like John Kerry. Early in 2008, it was obvious that he was intrigued by and excited about Obama.
Maybe you'd do better asking him why he isn't anymore.

Where are you drawing that conclusion from?
What Fineman said was that McCain, if you asked him directly, would disagree with Joe Lieberman's smear of Obama about not always putting his country first. I think that's true; McCain is a hypocrite about running a low road campaign, even though McCain said Obama would rather lose the war than the presidential race.
The question for Fineman is, why isn't that EVEN WORSE? McCain promised American voters an honorable campaign, and he hasn't kept that promise. That's a deeply dishonorable thing to do. Fineman should note that, not continue to give McCain the benefit of the doubt.

I always watch Fineman when I can and have seen nothing to support your conclusion -- what I have seen is growing discomfort about what appears to be happening to the John McCain he was fairly confident he knew. -- For someone who is generally calm and reasoned, giving up a long-held belief is difficult and painful and perhaps leads to preoccupation. And it might also make one very leery of getting "excited" by someone else even less known. But when he does discuss Obama, I pick up nothing negative and still a strong sense that Fineman is intrigued and most often approving. ------- Don't underestimate the toll McCain's seeming change in basic nature takes on people like Finemen, Mitchell and others who felt, with good reason, that they knew certain things about McCain's basic character.
Any report on that radio show?

Just ignore the blue arrow troll. She's just sticking up for Fineman to aid and abet the GOP Thugocracy. What is that saying about "birds of a feather"?
I too would like to hear of a radio report if anyone got thru. Radio Times has a podcast, btw and audio archives.

Fineman is a cynical insider who has been around a long time. I think Fineman is disappointed that Obama showed a lot of promise at the beginning but appears to have stalled out in just another risk averse centrist campaign that offers nothing new. Obama hasn't moved the ball forward. He's just waiting for McCain to lose. That's not going to motivate a cynic to go out of his way to shake off the conventional wisdom with inciteful commentary about the flaws in McCain.
