Palin scrubs her own wikipedia page!
NPR just had a story about a flurry of mostly-positive edits that occurred to Sarah Palin's wikipedia page, 45 minutes before her VP candidacy was leaked--including edits that removed/downplayed references to the brother-in-law scandal. The author of those edits? An anonymous user with the handle "YoungTrig." Trig--I'm sure just coincidentally--is the name of Palin's infant son.
The NPR story noted that editing your own page on wikipedia is considered a "no-no," according to their terms of use.
Audio of the NPR story here shortly: Hmm. I guess we can expect the kind of wonderful transparency and honesty from the McCain/Palin administration that we have seen for the past eight years.

Apparently quite a bit. But don't worry their will be lots of folks digging it up.

In his latest move, with his trademark blend of desperation and calculation, John McCain announced his choice of Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin as his running mate. McCain's anti-choice, anti-gay, anti-environment right wing extremist pick for vice president reveals the depth of his cynicism and condescension towards American voters, women in particular.

She isn't totally anti gay. She gives homosexuals rights, actually bucking her own party when it comes to that.

For some reason this comment won't post.
The user name is actually Young Trigg and has only made edits to Sarah Palin's page.
You can see her edits here.
Notice, in this edit, href="http://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Sarah_Palin&diff=prev&oldid=234746622">here, she removes the mention that Wooten is her brother-in-law entirely and labels the edit "better wording."

The really sad thing is how pathetic her last minute resume-padding is. The words in bold were her additions this morning:
Talk about a non-sequitor addition:

I suggest someone edit her page and put all the information about the ethics scandal. It should be on there.

There is an excellent article about why this is such a bad choice for McCain on huffpost here:
http://www.huffingtonpost.com/robert-j-elisberg/the-worst-vice-presidenti_b_122491.html
I really don't understand this choice. Apparently it was a strategic move suggested by Carl Rove? heresay but it's possible. I see all of the 'reasons' that they wanted to put certain of her qualities on the ticket because they had nothing to compete with Senator Obama.
What a freakin' reckless decision. There are people who are going to vote for Senator Obama just to keep her from being in such a high office. According to what I heard on Lehrer today she is having a tough time learning how to be the governor of her very large but not highly populated state. Her job as mayor of a very small town for 8 years was so minor. The link above explains her 'duties' as mayor. Oh my god it was a step of the PTA or something. Now she is suddenly governor and stretching. She must have been crazy to accept this VP role.
Ugh... tragic.

If she is struggling to be Governor of a state with no fiscal problems, due to being awash with oil money, and a population base considerably smaller than many congressional districts, I shudder to think how over her head she would be in dealing with the policy and protection of the United States if McCain were to be disabled or die in office.

If this whole VP thing doesn't work out she has a bright future in the profession of Super Spy.

Two words: Karl Rove. She shores up the base with her extreme stance on abortion, she makes it look like the Repubs are finally giving a woman her due, unlike those nasty Dems, she opens a can of worms for Catholics who might want to support Biden, but whose priests will tell them he's the devil because he's not pro-life, she gets to shore up McCain's Maverick creds while standing beside him and gushing over what a fabulous leader he will be, something nobody else probably in the country could do with a straight face. I could go on, but...
Anyway, there is nobody in this country who has more to fear from an Obama presidency than Karl Rove and evil though he is, a malignant toad, you better believe he ran the numbers six ways from Sunday to come up with this woman. She's a winner for them, maybe in ways we'll only figure out later, but trust me, this was not just a bone-headed pick by McCain. Oh, did you see how pleased he was by her praise. I truly, for the first time, felt sorry for the old bastard, his preening vanity. My God, he's a joke and he doesn't even know it. God help us all if American doesn't know it either.

When you think about it, from Karl's point of view it really is brilliant. His attack method is to go after a person's strengths. Sarah Palin doesn't HAVE any strengths, and so is the perfect candidate!

This is not a serious Vice Presidential nomination... Think Harriet Miers.
The vacuousness of her introduction to the American people yesterday brought to mind not so much Dan Quayle, but Ross Perot and his "giant sucking sound"... My God, she referred to her start in politics as an evolution from sitting around to joining the PTA... Next stop... mediating settlements between nuclear armed rivals!
This is surreal.

Maybe someone else has also been touching up her page at Wikipedia.... This text below appears in the "pre-gubernatorial experience" section:
"While Mayor of Wasilla, Palin became a lesbian, She fell for K.D. Lang and they tried to elope to France, however her conservative family upbringing in Alaska brought her back."
I wonder if she added that herself, in the interest of full disclosure? :)

The real shame here is, given time, Palin could turn out to be the perfect Republican VP. She does bring a lot to the table (if anyone out there thinks there's a executive level politician sans skeletons in the closet you are very, very naive)
Palin is the one who's going to get screwed here. She was offered a golden opportunity and would have been a fool to pass on it. My god, can you imagine???? A small state governor being offered VP of the USA.
But let's look beyond the crap being asked over and over and over: is she fit to lead us into war. Is she fit to interface with Congress??? You're talking 635 people with looooong standing relationships. Is she ready to negotiate Israel and Palestine? Iran? Russia? You're talking millions of people's lives. Is she ready to deal with a 300 trillion dollar national debt? Will she bail out Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac to the tune of 54 billion in new taxes? Wall Street, welfare, No Child Left Behind (god, could that program puh-lease go far, far away, never to be seen again) alternative energy being manufactured, distributed, installed and consumed here in the US, NAFTA, unions????? It's a big job, whether McCain drops dead or not.
Rare and wondrous is the politic team that is prepared for the task of running one of the most influential countries on the planet. I think in 10 years Palin could hold her own on any stage but the McCain team just screwed her pooch. Too bad, misogyny is alive and well in this country, they're going to nail her to the wall.

It is not misogony to point out her ethical issues. Nor is it misogony to point out that she is an intelectual light weight who rejects science. She would be a disaster even were she a he.

That is not correct. The Alaska State Supreme Court had ruled that denying state employee benifets to same-sex domestic partners violated the state constitutions equal protection clause. In a special session called by the previous governor to enact enabling legislation for the ruling, they instead passed 2 unconstitutional laws. The first to forbid the state controller from implementing the ruling and the second to submit the issue to a non-binding public referendum.
Palin vetoed the first measure and signed the second. From Gay City News by way of The Bilerico Project:
Or as Bilerico put it:
She also publicly supported a constitutional ammendment banning gay marriage.

Gender has nothing to do with it. The press and pundits rightfully had the same reaction to Dan Quayle. No one would be questioning a Kay Bailey Hutchinson.

His VP decision shows that McCain is now controlled by the right-wing extremists of the GOP party. Hardly a maverick decision, in fact just the opposite.
The maverick stood up to these extremists.

To get back to the original post about someone scrubbing Palin on Wikipedia - whether it was Palin herself or the campaign staff - if Palin or Long John cannot outsmart Wikipedia, how are they going to deal with Hezbollah, Putin, the multitude of factions in Iraq or Iran?
We know what part of his anatomy McCain was thinking with in picking Palin, and it wasn't his head.
