Thomson references a book written by Irwin A. Tank, author of Gook: John McCain's Racism, which notes a long and sordid history of racism from the presumptive GOP nominee. If the Obama campaign had its wits about it, it would pay that publisher to do a reprint.

Here's a favourite joke of his about Hispanics, which is so damned hypocritical if one thinks of his latest ad geared at Hispanics, (criticising Obama for not including them in his Berlin speech)

McCain loved to tell jokes about lesbians, blacks, Hispanics and the Vietnamese community that occupied a large section of Arlington County, Virginia, just south of the District of Columbia.
Of course, McCain didn't use polite language in the jokes: He used names like "fags" or "queers" or "dykes" or "niggers" or "spics" or "wetbacks" or "gooks."

Just imagine, Fran, if Obama had told any of the derogatory (and oh by the way, condescending) jokes that are McCain's forte. I'm starting to feel as if we've gone through the looking glass, and looking out, everything is backwards.

I know. It's vile. Seriously, I knew he was a `guy` type, something of a walking anachronism in these supposedly enlightened days, but I had no idea the extent of it until I read Thomson's blog. Hell, he used terms I didn't even know. eg `wet backs`. Another thing that horrified me was in the comments - one person said that this was standard dialogue in Arizona.
It's just appalling how he's got away with all this.
What's go galling is that the journalists apparently love him. What's to love about this?

McCain insists he will continue to use humor in his ads. His ads are insults and only the mean spirited find them funny. McCain is the bully on the playground who makes fun of the fat kid. The only thing different about Obama is his race and his name.

No. And this isn't *my* claim. It's Doug Thompson's testimony and Tank's book.
Just witness what books can do if you have Hannity interviewing their authors and then respouting them endlessly on Fox and the radio.
Our problem is that Obama doesn't have that. What
we're in dire need of is surrogates who'll use their time on cable and the networks to make these charges - get them to stick.

Why does the media cover up for "G**k"-hater McCain??
Why?? Does the U media sympathize wih the bigot's way of thinking? I'd love to hear all the pundits and reporters who say Mccain is a "nice guy" explain the bigotry and why it appeals to them. What do they like about his racist epithets? racist jokes? Opposition over decades to civil rights and affirmative action?

I wish this anti Asian prejudice *could* get some publicity. Maybe that way some of *their* prejudice could be alleviated.
(I was quite shocked watching CNN during the primaries to see them interviewing East Asians in Seattle and some of them simply coming out and saying flatly they were voting for Hillary not `the black man`.)
