Tom Cole's "Virtual Insanity" Over Sarah Palin
(Whatever Republicans are toking on these days, I hope they pass it to me...)
National Republican Campaign Committee chairman Tom Cole says new Republican VP pick Sarah Palin will give a big boost to three Republicans facing close contests in suburban districts with a high proportion of middle-class mothers.
Cole, a military history buff, likened McCain’s move to General McArthur’s surprise attack on Inchon during the Korean War. “This is the political equivalent of Inchon!” he enthused. “McCain hit the Democrats exactly where they didn’t expect to be hit... The women in my office were high-fiving each other!”
Some history buff Cole is. After Inchon, McArthur was nearly wiped out by the Chinese army. Shortly thereafter, he was unceremoniously pink-slipped by President Truman.
So, in honor of Tommy Cole groping around blindfolded in a dark room for a black cat that just isn't there, here's a little Jamiroquai musical shout-out for those delusional GOP leaders!

That's not true. Inchon was the naval landing that cut the supply lines that China was using to supply the North Koreans. It worked.

Re-read what I wrote. I said, "AFTER Inchon...", etc.etc.
It's not that the attack on Inchon wasn't successful, in and of itself. But, if Cole's point was to draw a parallel between MacArthur and McCain, the follow-up in MacArthur's timeline is rather unfortunate for his candidate.
