Bizzaro Hillary Clinton

After watching Senator McCain's Vice Presidential pick - Governor Sarah Palin - at the RNC convention, reading the news articles about her, watching snippets from the ABC interview, and finally watching the SNL opener last night, I've come to the conclusion that Sarah Palin is Bizzaro Hillary Clinton.

Remember the old Superman cartoons on Saturday mornings?  Bizzaro world was the opposite of the real world.  I think that's just what we have here.

Think about it.  Pretty much everything Hillary Clinton stands for, Sarah Palin takes the opposite stance.  Here are a couple off the top of my head:

Hillary Clinton stands for universal healthcare.  Sarah Palin wants to charge rape victims for their medical kits.

Hillary Clinton stands for the freedom of choice for women.  Sarah Palin believes abortions are never an option.  Not for rape victims and not for incest victims.

Hillary Clinton, although voted for the war in Iraq, believes it's well past time to withdraw.  Sarah Palin believes the war is a task from God and believes we should be there until we achieve victory (whatever that is).

Hillary Clinton is well aware of the Bush Doctrine and opposes it.  Sarah Palin has no idea what that is but supports it.

Hillary Clinton stands for environmental awareness.  She feels we need to acknowledge global warming and cease our dependence on fossil fuels.  Sarah Palin encourages hunting from planes and pays for the legs of animals killed in one of the most brutal ways imaginable.  She refuses to acknowledge global warming and encourages more drilling.

Hillary Clinton did more for women in her primary run for the Whitehouse than can be stated here.  The pride she infused in women of today showed them that nothing was beyond their reach.  Sarah Palin cheapens everything Hillary Clinton stands for.

McCain's move in picking her as a VP candidate was a political ploy in order to attract women voters.  There is no other reason to pick someone who is so incredibly inexperienced to assume the second highest office in our nation.

All this, I'm sure is preaching to the choir here.  I'm writing this for my own benefit honestly.  I was not a Hillary supporter during the primaries.  My wife was and we had many interesting conversations.  However, after taking a good look at Sarah Palin, I have a new-found respect for what Hillary has done over her career.

What I've found most interesting is that McCain's choice of Sarah Palin has really energized my wife and others like her to vote Obama/Biden.  I've also read blogs of former "PUMA's" who are now coming back home as well.

If you're still reading this, I encourage you to go and do what I'm off to do now - register voters.  Do what you can so we can ensure this bizarre Governor from Alaska doesn't get anywhere near the Whitehouse.

Despite preaching to the choir, your concise contrast of Hillary vs Sarah is to be commended and Rec'd. Palin is no Hillary Clinton. She is the anti-Clinton. If they were charged particles, they would self-annihilate on contact.

I admire and respect Clinton, who has earned her pair. Palin's eagerness to ascend to the White House is more nuts than ballsy.

And here all the time I assumed you thought Hillary was the second coming of Hitler

I agree with all of your statements except this one:

Hillary Clinton is well aware of the Bush Doctrine and opposes it.

Hillary had proved over and over again in the primaries that she was a war hawk. She had no problem using fear to scare up votes nor did she have any qualms about bombing Iran herself.

Not trying to be a Hillary hater or anything... but - hey, if the foo shits.

Nothing like trying NOT to get votes for Obama

by telling the truth. I think America is sick and tired of being greeted with lies and news that they want to here.

I thought Obama said he'd bomb Pakistan and was for declaring the Iranian Revolutionary Guard a terrorist group.

Come on Billy, oops I mean Desidero. You know very well that Obama did not endorse the Kyl-Lieberman resolution to make Iranian Natl guard terrorists. You know very well that he did not say he would bomb the whole country of Pakistan. He would take out those targets we had actionable intelligence on if Pakistan wouldn't. Don't pull a McCain on us, alright? The world is full enough of lying assh*les.

As I focus more on Sarah Palin, I have more respect for everyone else who's not Sarah Palin.

Does that include McCain? Maybe he should campaign on that. "I'm not Sarah Palin."

Smiles for that one!

Well said!

I recently made a YouTube ad on the rape/choice issue. Take a look: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=p9rdUXA_qlI

Excellent ad!

Made me think of Darfur. Where not only can all those raped women get no help, they must bear and raise babies whose fathers killed their husbands.

What's next? Will Dems be forced to bear repub babies? Not that I seriously think it would come to that... but just suppose ...

Excellent post. I'm late for the party as I was off-line getting involved, but rec'd and distributed widely...

I actually think she was chosen more as the "Bizarro Obama". Because, despite her gender, it is more Obama's thunder she is designed to steal. Though maybe she is a little the antithesis of both. There is certainly her gender. But consider these elements that make her a candidate that is almost lab-grown to be the anti-Obama.

What she shares (Bizarro Superman did, after all, share many of his superpowers):

- A charisma that electrifies people of a certain mindset, but is baffling to those of the opposite philosophy.

- She is a post-boomer who uses the parlance of the modern world, such as "cool" and "hater".

- A fresh face that rockets out of nowhere.

- A member of a group that has never been the Big Dog in the whitehouse.

- Religious, belonging to a group that the other finds threatening.

- Both originate in outpost states not connected to the mainland 48.

Now, consider the opposites... the Bizarro qualities:

- Social Philosophy is opposed in every way to Obama (and Hillary, of course).

- Governing Philosophy and Style that is opposite. Palin is a Culture Warrior and wedge-issue queen, while Obama's philosophy centers on national unity.

- Her record shows a history of surrounding herself with yes-men. She is very rooted, while Obama has, as his sister Maya said, a life very broad and somewhat itinerant.

- Her background is provincial, having rarely traveled outside her state prior to, and after, political office and likely encountering few varied cultures, vs. Obama's incredibly diverse heritage and life.

- She is perceived as being as being a product of rural America he, whether justified or not, as urban or cosmopolitan america.

- He is intellectual, she is anti-intellectual (also a Hillary contrast).

- A frivolous: He's from the warmest state, she from the coldest.

Appended elements:

- Her charisma derives from her down-home, folksy style, while his derives from his eloquence in asking us to reach for the sky.

- She is the culmination of Movement Conservatism, he is a harbinger of post-ideological, practical progressivism (i.e. there is no red America or Blue America there is the United States of America).

* Note: this one is scary, because I do believe she is the Manchurian Candidate for the neocon and end-timer Christian unholy alliance and what they see as their future.

- His pitch is Hope and Unity based, hers is Fear and Resentment based.

- She attempts to project an air of honest values while being hyper-aggressive and a liar, while he is consistently criticized for not having enough killer instinct -- essentially too good a man for politics.

- He is presidential candidate by his own steam and is galvanizing a social movement from the grassroots up, she is a puppet, or a front-woman, for a movement that is largely hidden and would not truly be embraced by most if the full dimensions and implications were known.

- The more you look into them, the better he looks the worse she looks.

If only Hillary were running for VP. Then we woldn't be having this conversation.

If we were Rethugs, we would have 'wise old men' of the party force Obama to pick Hillary - but we don't do that. We let the big man Obama run the show, and the big man (apparently) either couldn't 'handle' Hillary or didn't want to be overshadowed by Bill and Hill - who knows?

I fear that on a Wednesday in November we'll be thinkin' awful hard on what the hell BO was thinking with the electrifying choice of Biden.

Stuff it!! If you don't mind my crudeness (or even if you do). NO ONE -- NO ONE -- could select Hillary Clinton as VP without getting all her negatives, all the back history and blue dresses to wave around, and the BIG DOG hanging over everyone on the White House porch. That would certainly give the impression of strength, wouldn't it? And make for real, workable governance if elected.

Thank goodness we *aren't* like the Republicans and allow our leaders to LEAD. If Hillary had won, do you think she should have had her choices dictated to her? McCain is just beginning to experience how much is lost when party elders can force you to take someone you don't want and don't even know. Read this:
http://www.nytimes.com/2008/09/14/opinion/14rich.html?_r=1&oref=slogin

Instead we have a strong leader, an excellent and no-drama VP pick who is working wonderfully well with Obama, and Sen. and Pres. Clinton as part of the team, with her able to pretty much write her own ticket with a win. (Plus - she didn't WANT it and knew it wasn't going to be offered. She told Obama that she didn't want to go through vetting - or ask Bill to be vetted - unless she *was* going to be offered the job. That's very similar to what Biden said: he didn't want it unless Obama felt he was needed. She wasn't going to refuse, but I doubt "second fiddle" was ever on her most-wanted list.)

I probably shouldn't have even responded -- most likely you're a troll, since you are simply spouting Sarah Palin's lines.
