Calling a Spade a Spade
"Gee, that never sounded racist until now." Mary Shannon, In Plain Sight (USA Network)
It's about time that people are calling McCain out for being what he, his surrogates, and his campaign are: Liars!
Obama says so (Ok, he doesn't use the "L" word, but close enough!) in Terre Haute, Indiana.
While Obama might call McCain a liar directly, Rachel Maddow does. Liar, Liar, pants on fire! Awesome video!
And Barbara Boxer takes her digs, too. Look at what McCain has fought while in Washington. Good on you, Ms. Boxer.
You'll love this. Ever read the Republican Party Platform? Wayne did and his initial report was hysterical. If only the Republican's had any idea who they were quoting. Their stupidity would be laughable if it wasn't our country at stake!
McCain and Palin have differing views on earmarks...or do they. The clueless and the cluelesser. I can't tell which is which.
Gee, everything old is new again. Look at the comparison of Fox on Kerry and Obama. It's deja vu all over again.
And Jesus Christ, what about that kooky church which drives Palin's ideology? Scared yet?
And, don't forget the List of Obama's Senate Accomplishments, should you ever need amunition when talking with your GOP leaning friends or family.
Yeah, in this case, I am calling a spade a spade, and McCain, et al, you are nothing but LIARS!

What I want to know is, if Palin is in the right on the Troopergate issue, why is she stalling and fighting it? If I were in a situation like this, and I knew I was innocent, I'd want it out in the open, not lingering in the background.
On the other hand, if I were guilty as charged...

She is channeling her inner Bush.
Anyone thinking that McCain/Palin is a 3rd term is only partially right. It's a 3rd term which takes a nosedive down - by far scarier than anything that Bush has done.
And that is beyond frightening.

Obama and his friends won the primaries by race-baiting the Clintons and anyone who supported Hillary, and now look at the polls:
http://www.gallup.com/poll/110050/Gallup-Daily-McCain-Moves-Ahead-48-45.aspx
McCain is up 48-45.
What a surprise!
Insult half the Democratic Party and lose!
But Obamabots think they can make it all go away by threatening everybody else with the bogeyman McCain, and Obama blew his last chance to make amends when he chose the pompous and unintelligent Joe Biden for VP.

She's obviously stalling on the "troopergate" thing because other related stuff will also come out.
This trooper doesn't exactly sound like a boyscout, but her sister was married to him for four years.
Their real dilemma is: If they portray they guy as being a real bad actor, then they have to explain why the sister stayed married to a bad actor so long.
And if the stuff he did was bad enough to get fired, why did the troopers REAL bosses (not the political bosses) just give him a 5 day suspension?
It's obvious to me that what the McBush campaign wants to do is either:
1. Keep the familiy out of the news because they are a bunch of fruitcakes.
OR--
2. Keep them in the news because they are a bunch of fruitcakes.
Either way, McBush wins, because they ain't talking about him.

Uh, I'm not sure why 4 people yesterday used a phrase - "calling a spade a spade" - that has serious racist imagery in the year of the first black nominee - 2 of these for the title of their posts. Can you all just stop it? At least for the next 6 months? MsJoanne, rationalcause, Gregory North, Coffee Clutcher, that's you. My God, if Hillary had just uttered such a thing 400 TPM bloggers' hair would have exploded and now we have an epidemic.
(Socratic Gadfly and B-Dib use "in spades" recently as well).
If you need help finding a similar phrase, there's an on-line thesaurus available to help (easy hint: "in trumps" works as well for the latter 2, "truth be told", "giving the devil its due", "by any honest appraisal", "bluntly speaking", "calling it as I see it", "truth be told", "looking at it clearly" and so on are just a few expressions that can be used to replace, depending on context.
If you want to dig into the muck deeper, you can watch Will Smith and Kevin Kline duel it out in Wild Wild West arguably better than you ever will.

And the origin of "nigger" comes from Niger and romantic languages where it simply means "black". The slur "polack" comes from the word Poles call themselves in Polish, "polaky". Feel better?
Context is everything.

You're right, context is everything. And I am calling the Republican's liars.
That is my context.

If I see one more moron compare Obama to Palin I'm gonna throw up. Obama is running against McCain bot Palin. If you want to diminish him keep comparing him to Palin.
