CNN misstates McCain position on abortion?

Did anyone just see the (at about 4:45 EST) CNN presentation of a McCain stump speech in split screen while showing his positions on issue to the left?

The text indicated an opposition to abortion (of course), but with EXCEPTION in cases of incest or rape.

Did I read that right?

If so, isn’t that totally against the written Republican platform and Palin’s repeatedly stated position?

Is CNN deliberately misstating McCain’s position attempting to put him more to the center than he is really or is it that they do not know how to do real reporting?

I don't know his views, because he does a good job of avoiding the topic.

Palin is against it in all cases.

Apparently the only "choice" left will consist of rapists being able to pick the mothers of the children.

No, that's right; as I recall, he made a big stink over adding such an exception to the Republican platform in 2000. This year, not so much.

That was his 2000 position, not his 2008 position.

As far as I'm aware, McCain hasn't changed his position and Cindy McCain told ABC the other day that she's in favor of the rape/incest exception and that she thinks abstinence should part of a complete sex ed program.

PS) Just like the Dems, the party platforms are written by a committee and though the candidate's have some input (Reagan added the abortion plank), it's not really up to them.
