Do Republicans really think they'll profit for blocking the bailout bill?
Josh, you wrote about Republicans wanting to skewer Democrats for voting with the administration to bail out Wall Street. With the public's tendency to favor action over inaction during times of crisis, do the Republicans honestly believe they will be elevated for blocking passage of this bailout bill?

I don't doubt that some backwoods Republican congressmen will benefit from running against Big Gummint Socialism here. But if John McCain wants to run for President as the reincarnation of Herbert Hoover, I'm not going to stand in his way.

Wake up dude. It's the democrats blocking this bill, while the markets burn, because they want to punish 'wall street' to appeal to their left wing base. They are insisting on being able to limit what executives can get in pay and bonus and they are demanding stock equal to the assets they buy. They want to buy assets for pennies on the dollar, and then get free stock too. Genius!

The Republicans, have waited all these years, for revenge for what FDR thwarted.
The Republicans of our day have no loyalty, to a government, for the people; only a government that works for their type.
Government and it's ability to tax, interfere with this new breed of Republicanism.
It is, in their best interest to let the economy collapse, in that way, they can buy up the assets at the fire sale
Of course they're not going to be forthright about this plan, because they need to win the election to be able to complete their conquest of America.
That's why they'll blame the Democrats, in an effort to sucker followers to support their scheme.
By the time the suckers realize that they were nothing but dupes, it will be to late.
With wiretapping and extra policing, the majority of Americans will be unable to mount a defense or a offense against this new form of Aristocrisy, Plutocracy or this new Royal class.
Plenty of work for the servants, with no benefits.
So get ready to carry the yoke of servitude for the haves, that acquired the wealth during this last 8 years, knowing full well the Deathstar is near completion.
Just a little while now and all power will belong to the RICH.
So either you bailout of this mess or you don't, doesn't bother them, either way they'll aquire the assets anyway.
Going according to the original plan.
