John McCain Can't Send E-mail? July 2008 "I just never really felt a need to do it." So Karl Rove Is Wrong Again.
Facts! Get Your Red Hot Facts!
Since this came up again during Barack Obama's September 15, 2008 Good Morning America Interview on ABC, this simple statement needs revisiting. Chris Cuomo didn't read the post I made on Jake Tapper's page. Or they deleted it again. They remove the links after a couple hours over there.
John McCain, interviewed this summer by Politico's Mike Allen, explained that he actually has the ability to email. And use a computer. And a BlackBerry. The last line in this excerpt is key.
Pointed it out to Jake Tapper. Pointed it out to Ben Smith, who was not aware the answer was first given to Politico in July 2008. Smith updated his "McCain's Hands" posting. Notice the addendum. You might want to take a look at Mike Allen's article.
Does it end the question of can John McCain email? He most certainly can if he wants to. He freely admitted it.
Does John McCain actually want to e-mail? He's just not into it.
So Obama's 'out of touch' ad is correct.
And Karl Rove is yet again, full of hot air.
But I get the feeling this is not the last time I'll have to point this out.
Again, pay attention to the last line of the excerpt.

"Q: But do you go on line for yourself?
Mr. McCain: They go on for me. I am learning to get online myself, and I will have that down fairly soon, getting on myself. I don’t expect to be a great communicator, I don’t expect to set up my own blog, but I am becoming computer literate to the point where I can get the information that I need — including going to my daughter’s blog first, before anything else.
Q: Do you use a Blackberry or e-mail?
Mr. McCain: No.
Mark Salter: He uses a BlackBerry, just ours.
Mr. McCain: I use the Blackberry, but I don’t e-mail, I’ve never felt the particular need to e-mail. I read e-mails all the time, but the communications that I have with my friends and staff are oral and done with my cell phone. I have the luxury of being in contact with them literally all the time. We now have a phone on the plane that is usable on the plane, so I just never really felt a need to do it."
