How can a black man living in a "RACIST" country( my knee is just fine, you NEED a history book) be elite at all. First, you need to look up the word. Second, the way it was use is meant to be RACIST. Third, Your not BLACK and I no this for a fact. Because no black person would trivialize racism. You make sound like WHITES are the ones that blacks did something too!!! No, you have it wrong the only reason blacks in America are in the positions their in is because of four hundred years of racism by WHITES!!! The "FACT" that a black man will be the next Persident!! Has all the racist whites looking and sounding like the racist they are. Now you can say, OH that's bull. But, this time the WORLD is watching and as in the past (history and sense you do not read history. ie: you did not know that over time the meaning of a word will change, (shit can mean many things) blacks were the slaves!!!) when the world sees the truth! A word is a word and not some weapon. The Racism will be over, I should be able to say and do what I want!! That John McCain and that soccer lady(Ha! HA!)are the laughing stock of the planet!!HA!!HA!! The once great and powerful AMERIKKKA is putting the country in the hands of a 72 year old man(that can not remember what he said one hour ago[abc news interview]) and a "SOCCER" mom!! HA!! HA!! HA!! HA!!
Jimmy, jimmy, jimmy - calm down. In 1961 Gallup took a pole and asked white folks if they thought negroes had the same opportunities as whites. If the schools were equal. If access to jobs was equal. over 70% of whites said yes - IN 1961!!!. If they were in that much denial then, you can only imagine the denial today. If you bring up racism as Oprah did when she was denied service in Paris, they say you're "playing the race card". As if we ever had a deck to play any card. Your yelling and screaming is not going to change that. EVER. Put that energy into 1. getting Obama elected. 2. helping yourself and the young folks in your community get educated - I'm talking masters degrees not just "some college".
I've dedicated myself to raising $5000 for Obama by 10/1 - through mybarackobama.com -- please help
My Ancestors came over from Ireland in the 1850's.
I have a great great great Uncle who shortly thereafter enlisted in the Union Army because, being Irish, he understood being on the receiving end of bigotry and yes, racism, he completely believed in the cause of freedom for ALL men.
His sacrifice in the name of freedom for all, still resonates in my family.
Kindly direct your comment at only those individuals who deserve it. Otherwise, it's value becomes diluted and looses the impact it needs to have.
This needs some more reporting. Does the waitress know who the other political figures were, so that they can be interviewed? This needs the waitress and at least one other hearer to fully come forward before it can get any attention.
This reporter also has a poorly-sourced article from a few weeks ago claiming that McCain is cheating on his wife on the campaign trail.
I hope that neither story is true; unfortunately, it will not surprise me if it is or they are.
The way it's written, you pretty much have to take his word. But hell, that's exactly what the MSM does to us also - and we KNOW they'll flat make stuff up. This seems the sort of thing to let them chew on over at Taylor Marsh.
I just did a little "background check" (ie googling) on the original author Charley James. He appears to be a legitimate, experienced journalist. Here is a bio I discovered:
A former assistant editor of "Business Week" magazine, and a television news producer and reporter before that, Charley James began writing when he was about eight and hasn't stopped.
Now, covers and writes news articles including his own independent investigative reporting, writes websites and newsletters for clients, drafts speeches, creates and writes ad copy, and crafts hopefully-humorous essays about things people encounter every day. He also writes fiction and non-fiction books, and has penned a few movie scripts one of which was actually produced.
Charley's crisp yet punchy writing style was shaped by years in journalism; his sense of writing for business grew from the years he spent as a C-level marketing and communications executive at some of North America's most-successful companies. And, his ironic but never biting view of the world was honed by observing people and situations while travelling in five continents over three decades.
His work has been published by in-flight magazines, company-sponsored magazines (including those he created for clients), city publications such as "St. Louis Magazine," among others, and business newspapers such as "The Financial Post," "The Financial Times" and general interest magazines like "Esquire." He is a frequent contributor to on-line e-zines and newspapers.
Charley writes funny, serious and in-between. A sample assortment is posted here at Helium.
I wrote a comment on his blog (still needs to be approved before it appears) expressing my hope that he has verifiable documentation to back up the assertions.
I guess we'll just have to wait and see...
When you have congressmen calling Michelle and Obama uppity, why does this story strain credulity? What I find unbelievable is that the party that has ridiculed those who challenge inequality are claiming to be victims of sexism. This is the absolute height of hypocrisy.
Now, now, I'm sure when she said "Sambo" she didn't mean it in any racially derogatory way. Why, I'm sure she's never heard the word "Sambo" used in a racially derogatory way in her whole life. Why do you liberals always have to make everything be about race?
Seriously, here is how this will go down if it gets traction. Its deniable. She'll deny it. The MSM will work up other instances of people who say she's said racist stuff. She'll deny that too. The Republicans will work themselves up into a high dudgeon over the latest attempt to play the race card by the smear merchants of the liberal media who are, of course, in the pay of the Obama campaign. Story vanishes.
The more I find out about her, the less I like her. She's clearly a vicious weasel ("mink" is really where I want to go--small, sleek, vicious and perpetually angry, but the word's been coopted by sexists) who likes power for power's sake and lacks any real convictions beyond the standard bundle of low-end Republican prejudices. But if your not a Democrat and its not on tape, it didn't happen in MSM world.
Mink will work in this case, as in Don Young angry biting mink.
She'll deny it, will she? That would require a meeting with the press, something she has sworn off. Ruh-roh...
No, Steve Schmidt will deny it. And he'll get emotional and start blubbering and say, "Why, oh why, would they want to say these HORRIBLE things about such a WONDERFUL mother and wife? How can they stoop SO LOW to make up such disgusting comments. Ladies and gentlemen, THIS is why it's SO IMPORTANT to elect a maverick like JOHN MCCAIN as president, someone who will FIGHT against this hatred and divisiveness."
"Ruh-roh" is right.
Quite right. I stand corrected.
Remember that Sarah Palin is a distraction for the McCain campaign. He's got nothing else to run on, so don't fall for it. We have to keep our attacks on McCain; Palin is totally in the background. We'll never win by attacking her.
No, Steve Schmidt will deny it. And he'll get emotional and start blubbering and say, "Why, oh why, would they want to say these HORRIBLE things about such a WONDERFUL mother and wife? I grew up in Virginia (Lynchburg; Falwell Country) and I heard that word used A LOT describing African Americans. Granted, I haven't heard it anywhere since and I moved away from there in 1980, but to know that people still use that term is disturbing.

OK.. I'm biased.. I admit that up front.
I'm in my mid/late 40's and am African American/Black what ever term you want to use to define me. I've seen overt as well as have been informed of covert racism.
I grew up in the midwest (Indiana) and can tell you recently had a discussion with parents of my best friend growing up and to hear them tell me how certain neighbors would ask them how they could let a N_____ play with their kids or be in their house give me an understanding of how much a disease racism is in this country. My friend's dad being a university professor.
Remember this is middle class america in the late 70's. My mother was a Nurse and my father an Electrical Engineer. I consider myself a pretty traditional person - conservative in appearance and opinion...
Now that being said... I'm not looking for "dirt" on SP, although I'm sure enough people are. My only context has to do what the assualt on the Obama Family from the Iowa primaries until today. I understand there are double standards in politics as well as in the media but you have to ask yourself who is served by this double standard?
You have to ask yourself this simple question... remember how much that supposed tape of Michelle making comments about "whitey" was passed along by the media... there was never any collaboration on that story and yet it was repeated and passed along.
In this instance you have a story written by an established writer with several sources... and the impression is this should not be picked up and anyone who mentions this is either biased/has hidden motives?
It's really sad this woman was not fully vetted before she was put in this situation. What a disservice to her, her family and the amercian people.
The last 8 years should have taught us not to assume those chosen by the few have the best interests of the many at heart.

Thanks Ami... I would have linked to the article on mudflats as well. I would imagine since there were no other comments regarding my post and in particular the differences in how the stories are being treated.. let's continue to think this can't possibly be true.
(And I know all the comments about staying away from this so I addressed this purely from a equal treatment perspective)
As a native White Southerner who has lived in the South for 55+ years, I can assure everyone that remarks like these can be heard when rednecks get together here. Given the concentration of white folks in Alaska, it makes perfect sense to me.
And Sarah P did reserve a business name "Rouge Cou," which she said means "red neck" in French - at least that's why she said she picked the name.
I couldn't care less if it's true or not. If they can lie and say Obama wants 5 years olds to learn about sex, lie about him calling Palin a pig, lie about how much in earmarks he's asked for, lie about him going after her like a "pack of wolves", then what's good for the goose!!! I just sent it to everyone on my email list and some.

How racism works
What if John McCain were a former president of the Harvard Law Review?
What if Barack Obama finished fifth from the bottom of his graduating class?
What if McCain were still married to the first woman he said 'I do' to? What
if Obama were the candidate who left his first wife after she no longer
measured up to his standards?
What if Mich elle Obama were a wife who not only became addicted to pain
killers, but acquired them illegally through her charitable organization?
What if Cindy McCain graduated from Harvard? What if Obama were a member of
the 'Keating 5'? What if McCain was a charismatic, eloquent speaker?
If these questions reflected reality, do you really believe the election
numbers would be as close as they are?
This is what racism does. It covers up, rationalizes and minimizes positive
qualities in one candidate and emphasizes negative qualities in another when
there is a color difference.
I think I need some other verification other than the LA progressive. I'd love it to be true, but .....
