Maddow: McCain, You're a LIAR!

Good for you, Rachael!  Finally someone says the dreaded "L" word.

Watch it here.

This pleased me beyond words.

I would officially like to recommend that we remove the word Mendacity from our lexicon.

They're liars. They lie. They are lying when they lie about their lying.

Maddow rocks for calling them out on this!!

The L word applies many times over.
It appears, too, that the C word might apply; no, not John's favorite C word...

That was amazing. I think I just fell in love.

Back off, buddy, she's mine!! But, alas, I don't think she pitches for either one of us' team. Love her, looking forward to her show. She is one sharp cookie.

Both of you! :-)

And if y'all haven't caught Jon Stewart lately, he has been smoking!

Aw,golly gee...I love you, too.

Heh.

And as Obama put it, the GOP thinks Americans are stupid!

thanks rachel maddow...you are the best...my problem is this: why the heck obama camp is not explicitly using the L word on Mccain?...call them liars to their faces...say it to the media loud and clear..it is obvious the MSM is never ever going to question Mccain on anything.....it is weird how MCPALIN repeats one lie after another no one from obama's team, including obama himself is calling them out on those lies and non is shouting out the word LIAR from the mountain top....i am not sure that ignoring palin is a good strategy...they need to respond to mccain and tie palin right along with mccain to bush...they are one and the same....palins's background and character reminds me of cheney...mccain's temper and total disregard for propriety reminds of the bush administration...tie them, bound them all....

i just dont get it....

Good find, MsJoanne. It goes along with my contention that all these far right so-called Christians have quite forgotten that pesky little commandment about "Thou Shalt Not Bear False Witness..." It's called lying, and sometimes I actually hope there IS a heaven and a hell, because these people might be in for a real surprise, sanctimonious hypocrites that they are.

(I posted about this elsewhere, but it's gone the way of all TPM posts.)

So thanks for calling a lie a lie, and not a mendacity or a "stretching of the truth." It's a lie, and a conscious, willful one. I mean several. I mean a whole platform of them.

Lies - yup, yup, yup. That's what they are.

For years, conservative Republicans have made "liberal" a dirty word. Now it's time to get the new "L" words into the mainstream discussion.

Lie, Lying, Liar. Liars.

Awesome.

Maddow is MY HERO!!!!

I also thought the commentator made a good point that Palin's attacks have a swiftboat quality to them: lies repeated again and again.

Obama needs to find an effective way to counterpunch without taking focus off McCain.

Thank god for Rachel...she finally broke the 'spell'...she said the LIAR word!! Now, maybe, the rest of the talking heads will get some backbone and call a liar a liar!! It takes a 'girl' to make those guys look bad!! Let's see just how great Carriboo Barbie does when she has to answer real questions from real people. I can hardly wait!!

Thanks for posting this... I just learned how to link these things today or I would have myself...

This is an excerpt from my blog after watching this yeserday.

They(the republicans) will clearly do whatever they like and tell you that you like it. They will lie, cheat, and steal whatever they can and do it in God's name because they believe they are righteous and have God on their side so they will go to heaven anyway. They believe that instead of consequences that they may actually be rewarded for their lies.

What can we do when there are no consequences for lying, when there is no need for 527's because the candidates are willing to tell blatant lies themselves??

There is nothing scarier or uglier than ignorance that seeks power

but there is nothing more liberating and enlightening than 'speaking truth to power'.

'Speaking truth to power' is like 'Kabaam' the miracle cleaner that wipes out any stain. 'Speaking Truth To Power' cleans up political mess... you just have to keep using it. The more you use it the better it works! If you use it regularly... the mess no longer stick... it slides right off for easy clean up.

I realized tonight when Rachel Maddow said "we are going to call these statements of untruth 'lies' and the repetition of the statements 'lying' " that she just cleaned up some of the political mess. Granted it was just a small corner of the mess that's out there but I feel more empowered suddenly recognizing that this is what you do in the face of such corruption and ignorance.

'Speak Truth To Power' (use caution when using industrial strength 'speak truth to power' as it may cause unknown truths to surface)

FYI I only pressed send once on this....

There are many more words that need to be spoken as well....

But "liars" is a good start.

Thank you for posting this. My favorite quote from the segment:

“Is there no political risk for telling things that are demonstrably untrue about your opponent?”

Republicans are apparently living in a post-fact world.

That...was...AWESOME!

MsJ,

At the risk of being a horn self-tooter, please take a look at my recent post and look at the document on Palin.

Let's have Maddow talk about HER lies.

Why should it been taboo for a liar to be called a liar? I guess somebody had to be first. Let's hope that other journalists become emboldened to be as honest as Rachel.

try calling him a disgrace,
to our soldiers..
take a look at this article I found:

McCain & Veterans' Health Care

McCain Has Repeatedly Voted Against Increasing Funding for Veterans Healthcare to Keep Tax Cuts for the Rich.
John McCain has repeatedly voted to keep intact tax cuts for the rich, rather than provide American veterans with adequate healthcare funding. McCain has repeatedly voted against amendments in the Senate that would have added funding for healthcare services, but eliminated tax cuts for the wealthy. Funding would have covered such important services as improving care at veterans' hospitals, providing mental health services to soldiers with post-traumatic stress disorder and substance abuse problems. [2006 Senate Vote #7, 2/2/06; 2005 Senate Vote #343, 11/17/05; 2003 Senate Vote #74, 3/21/03]
2006: McCain Voted Against Eliminating Increased Fees And
Co-Payments For Veterans Health Care Program By Closing Corporate Tax Loopholes.
In 2006, McCain voted against the Kerry amendment that would eliminate increased fees and co-payments for veterans in the TRICARE health care program by raising the discretionary spending limit by approximately $10 billion. The provisions would have been fully offset by eliminating creating corporate tax breaks. [2006 Senate Vote #67, 3/16/2006]
McCain Stood Out in Opposing Veterans' Healthcare Funding.
McCain was one of only 13 Republicans to vote against an amendment that added over $400 million for inpatient and outpatient care for veterans. [2006 Senate Vote #98, 4/26/06]
McCain Puts Politics Over Vets; Would Rather Be Out Campaigning Than Supporting Our Troops.
McCain missed an important vote this year that supported the funding of the troops in Iraq and guaranteed them adequate medical care upon returning home. [2007 Senate Vote #76, 3/15/07]
McCain Blamed Scandal on Rumsfeld's Management of War.
Days after the story broke, McCain told a group of Georgia legislators that "the fruits of Rumsfeld's policy were on display at Walter Reed military hospital in Washington... It's well chronicled that the war was mismanaged." [Atlanta Journal Constitution, 2/22/2007]
FLASHBACK 2004: McCain Refused To Call For Secretary Rumsfeld's Resignation.
McCain would not call for Donald Rumsfeld's resignation, saying that the President "can have the team that he wants around him." McCain said that he respected Bush's decision to keep Rumsfeld around. McCain said, "I respect the president. The president of the United States was re-elected by a majority of the American people, and I respect his right. And I will work with the president obviously and with the secretary of defense." [MSNBC.com, 12/15/04; CNN.com, 12/5/04]
FLASHBACK 2006: McCain Refused to Join Calls For Rumsfeld's Resignation, Said He Would Work With Rumsfeld.
"But the president has the right and earned the right as the president of the United States to appoint his team," and he has confidence in Secretary Rumsfeld. "I will continue to work with Secretary Rumsfeld as much as I can as long as he is secretary of Defense. We have to, because we need to win this war." Busy McCain expresses views on Rumsfeld, immigration, Iraq war
Paul Giblin, Tribune
Sen. John McCain joined the ranks of retired generals who have said they have no confidence in Defense Secretary Donald Rumsfeld.

The "maverick" is looking more and more like a sidekick...merely going along with the powers that be...he says and does whatever he thinks his champions want to hear. Just like calling lobbyists 'birds of prey' which is a total contradiction to what his true ties with these unnecessary evils in Washinton are.

Precisely my thought. I am done giving the Obama campaign money until they start going on the attack to underscore, one by one, the gross lies eminating from the McCain camp; and in the same breath stating Obama's relevant policy positions and actions in plain simple soundbites. How hard can this be given the last eight years and the current state of the union? Once they debunk the outright lies, they can start exposing the more subtle Republican hypocricies - starting with McCain's flip-flopping, followed by the realities of Sarah Palin's actions as mayor and governor versus the perceptions of her as a reformer.

Yes Rachel! We all must do the same.Pick out your favorite 5 McCain Lies and talk w/undecideds about the Repubs fundamental dishonesty. Rachel Rules

Lying and Hypocrisy.

It's not just the lies about Obama. It's the lying denials of their own behavior. And it's the preaching virtue and even religion - while lying in plain sight over and over. Does Palin, who believes God is behind her political rise, believe God is telling her to lie? Does she learn that in her church? Or the bible?

Honestly, the level of hypocrisy is beyond anything imaginable here. Karl Rove never pretended to be a saint. I'll give him that. But these two pretend sainthood while lying through their teeth!
