"McCain Camp insiders say Palin "clueless"

Breaking News from Big Eddie:
McCain Camp insiders say Palin "clueless"
Capitol Hill sources are telling me that senior McCain people
are more than concerned about Palin.
The campaign has held a mock debate and a mock press conference; both are being described as "disastrous." One senior McCain aide was quoted as saying, "What are we going to do?" The McCain people want to move this first debate to some later, undetermined date, possibly never. People on the inside are saying the Alaska Governor is "clueless."

This exposes the real reason why McCain tried to torpedo the debate. It was also the reason why he ditched Letterman, and rushed over to Couric, in order to try and mop up after Sarah. You know that he got a 911 call telling him that Sarah had been a disaster in her Couric interview, so they dumped Letterman in order to rush McCain to the rescue.
They are trying to stick the nation with a VP that does not know a Moose's arse from a hole in the ice.

I don't think McBush is smart enough for this to be true, and not only that, he is incapable of "mopping up" anything.
He actually seems to revell in making messes and letting others clean it up.
How come no one has added up how many maids McBush employs in all those houses of his?

He does have handlers you know. McCain does not plan his events, and TV appearances. They do.

Oh I hope they video-taped those
mock sessions. I bet they could raise
a ton of money selling them.
Comedy Central could run for a long
time using clips from them.
Alaska would do well to hold a conference
with these men and glean information
they need to unseat her.
Not only not VP material, but not Gov
material, not even Mayor material.
This lady should just relax, take care
of her family and do some fishin...and
retire from public life. Oh, and read.

After the debate, NBC and CBS had Joe Biden on to comment on the debate. Palin was not on any network.
Brian Williams of NBC said that they asked for to have Palin on, but the McCain Camp would not put her on, but instead gave them Giuliani.
Think about that folks. McCain would not put his VP pick on TV to comment on his debate, but Obama had no problem having Biden do so.
McCain put on Giuliani, who is not on the ticket.
Sarah Palin must be dumber than a box of rocks.

liam,
Funny you should say that as some are referring to Palin as the equivalent of McCain's pet rock.

"McCain's pet rock."
Not rock, but PUCK!
And we all know how fond McBush is of PUCKING!! LOL

I think Palin's off the ticket and Giuliani's on. Just a hunch.
We all know McCain needs another gimmick to shake things up. Palin's going to give a tearful goodbye about how she didn't know how vicious the press would be in attacking her family and it's taking a toll on her children, and as a good Christian mom, she has to put her kids first.
She has to do it in a way that her evangelical base won't hold it against McCain. He'll play the whole thing for a sympathy vote for himself.

Here's my question: Do we want her to be replaced on the ticket? It will either prove that McCain is an impulsive, reckless nut and cost him the election, or it will change the game and drive his poll numbers way up and possibly cost us the election. I wonder. And won't he have to pick another extreme conservative to appease the base which will be angry with him for having booted her? Or will he replace her with someone like Kay Bailey Hutchinson or Tom Ridge? Either of those two would be total game changers: appealing to indys, but disliked by extremists.
But it seems to me that the McCain camp has no shame in hiding Palin, and will clearly either replace her before the debate or find a reason to cancel the debate.

As a Democrat, I want Palin to stay on the ticket because I think she makes McCain easier to beat. As an American, I want her off. I believe and hope Obama's going to win, but there's still a chance he won't. The possibility of Sarah Palin becoming president is truly terrifying.

As bad as his choice of her was in its own right, replacing her at this stage would be disastrous for what's left of his campaign. It would signify a complete lack of judgment and the few serious, hardcore supporters he had remaining would think he panicked.
Needless to say, his halfhearted support would outright evaporate.

While I agree the evangelicals would understand poor Sarah resigning over the "vicious" attacks she has been subjected to, I don't think they could forgive McCain for picking Guiliani, a thrice married, lived with gay guys, New Yawker.
He'd be better off picking Romney or Pawlenty. The evangelicals wouldn't be in love anymore, but they wouldn't feel as betrayed.

My new blog goes into the subject of Strong Steadfast Leadership traits, and how America has that leader right in front of them, if they are wise enough to do the right thing.
Please read, comment, and recommend it on up, if you feel that it merits it. Thanks.

My comment here is caution - the McCain camp has to play the lowering expectations game. It very well may not be a game, based on her Couric interview, but Biden ought to not only be prepared to respond, but also NOT respond, if and when Palin gives nonsensical answers to the questions. That will be a challenge for him.
Want to know how Palin has debated in the past? Here's the AK governor's debate (it's boring, but it shows her style):

""but also NOT respond"" Great point! Let her stew in her nonsensical answers. Don't step on her slop sweat time. Let the audience get uncomfortable and frightened of her obvious cluelessness.

The bar for Gov. Palin has been set so low, that she will probably do better than many expect, even if she seems ultimately seems outmatched by Biden. Unless she is humiliated on stage, it may likely be seen as a tie. In some respects this will be a contest to see if Biden can avoid saying something memorably stupid or if Palin can manage to say something memorably smart.

McCain is screwed with Palin on his ticket. If he ditches her, there goes the radical evangelical right. Ridge and Lieberman are pro-choice, Pawlenty unknown, 9ui11iani too socially liberal, and Romney too Mormon.
Dumping Palin would lead to rousing choruses of how McCain, in his "first big presidential decision," put politics ahead of the country in choosing an unqualified running mate. Following Thursday's debate, quite likely, keeping Palin will lead to rousing choruses of how McCain, in his "first big presidential decision," put politics ahead of country in choosing such an unqualified running mate.
Imagine the pressure on Palin as she preps for Thursday's debate. A bad Palin performance could effectively end McCain's campaign.

How could they let her debate, it defies reality. Yet when extolling his virtues as a maverick, he reminded in the debate he had picked a fellow maverick & indicated he was still enthralled with his soulmate pick. It was a strange thing to say with all the Palin scuttlebut coming from all corners.
I know I didn't imagine it, hope the clip appears.

I think three's no doubt that the Republicans are extremely unhappy with Palin's media performances to date. However, there may also be an element of expectations setting going on here - if she doesn't fall flat on her face she'll be declared to have "escaped", and if she looks even half-way decent (which I'm told she did better than that in her debates in the Alaska Gov campaign) then she could still reverse this thing with a stunning victory.
The bar for the debate is so low, she could trip and fall over it.

I'm betting on her trying to crawl under it.

Any hockey player knows that you have to freeze the pucks before using them in a game. Otherwise they are to bouncy. I think the McCain campaign is put Palin in the freezer and have either forgotten where she is or have decided to just leave her there.

okay if she's really gettin bumped off the tickey then we all need to go out and get a whole buch of those McCain-Palin signs and stickers while they're still free. then we can all wave the signs when McGrampa comes to town! wheeee!

You've heard her speak. Why is this breaking news?
September 27, 2008 3:52 PM | Reply | Permalink
Confirmation from inside McCain's own camp is what makes it news. What your impression of her before was, has nothing to do with that. This is a confirmation that the McCain camp are knowingly trying to put an Imbecile in as VP. That is very big news.

Do you really think McCain did NOT pick her on purpose? I think he is a chauvinist who sees beautiful women inferior to him. She is a token VP picked only to pick up the vote of Hillary's women and the RR. Funny how he thinks ALL those people to be stupid also. I don't think he'll get rid of her though because no matter how much his Republicans threaten him--he's the Maverick remember, and I hope he doesn't either. He'll get beat and blame it on her.

Palin will be out before Friday's debate. Huckabee is suggested as her possible replacement, but will it matter? A withdrawal would be a disaster but a smaller one than if she stays:

Once she has been nominated, and has accepted, McCain can not remove her from the ticket. The nomination rules prevent him from doing so. She is the offical nominee of the party. Only she can remove herself. That is why you are hearing those right wing columnists, such as Kathleen Parker, asking Palin to resign.
It is not in The Barracuda's nature to let go, once it has sunk it's teeth in.

I don't trust the republicans on anything - anything. at. all. I will believe she's a disaster when I see it next week.
Yes, I know about her interviews so far, but her trainers may be able to salvage something and drive expectations so low that she will come out looking like a states(wo)man compared to what she's done so far.

I don't believe she's stupid. There are smart people who don't interview well. She may be one of them. When she's off camera, she seems to get things done. A debate is a different atmosphere, and some people thrive on having to act or fight. She may indeed be rather different in a debate than in a one on one interview. Her nerves may turn to steel if she feels she's being attacked.

I live in Alaska. She seriously is not that bright. She has no vision and is mired in narrow concepts without the ability nor intellect to understand or implement positive processes.
Todd is the 'bully' behind the throne and they both are extremely narcissistic. They have no concept of the world outside of their little kingdom.
She has no financial or other business acumen.
I voted for her for Governor and now I will vote to impeach her if given the chance. I accept responsibility for not vetting thoroughly beforehand, but within months of her taking office, it was evident she is truly just another pretty face. Pretty and petty.

Panama-John McBush's foolish gambit in picking the unqualified Ms Palin as his running mate had two crass -- and completely tactical -- political purposes.
First, McBush wanted to energize the chicken-strangling, snake-handling, tongues-babbling envangelical crazy people who typically form the "base" of the Republican Party. They can't (and never could) stand Panama-John for daring to campaign against their true hero, Deputy Dubya Bush in 2000. Panama-John McPOW also once called them -- correctly -- "agents of intolerance." Now he can't kiss their atavistic asses long or often enough. So, picking Palin (at least initially) stimulated this superstitous mob into barely tolerating McBush as Ms Palin's running mate.
Second, McBush thought that by picking a woman VP running mate he could tap into some of the pissed off woman supporters of defeated Democratic New York Senator You-Know-Her. That largely hasn't worked -- except perhaps for one elitist billionaire de Rothschild heiress.
Since nothing the war-agitating McBush can do will win over war-hating women voters in general, only the first consideration about the crazy evangelical Christianists now applies; and former Arkansas Governor (and preacher) Mike Huckabee, can do that Elmer Gantry gig every bit as much, if not better, than the only-amateur witch-burner Palin can. Therefore, having Ms Palin fall on her own hocky-puck and/or baby blanket "for the good of the Party country" makes a lot of sense for McBush, providing that the overmatched-but-ambitious lady governor of Alaska will take the hint and go quietly into the oblivion she so richly deserves.
Without a plausible billionaire Republican like Ross Perot runing third-party cover for their electoral apostasy, Republicans will largely vote Republican or stay home sulking, no matter what empty (pant)suit front-person they find written on their ballots. Some faceless, unaccountable Shogun will run the Republican regency from an undisclosed bunker location in any event. The Republicans nearly always prefer a stud-hamster "propaganda catapult" stand-in for president. Think Warren G. Harding. Think Herbert Hoover. Think Gerald Ford. Think Deputy Dubya Bush.
At any rate, after watching Senator Joe Biden succinctly (for him) summarize just how badly John McBush had flunked every important decision he ever faced, I'd say we've already seen and heard the Vice Presidential debate if it somehow includes the invisible cipher, Ms Palin, who couldn't even show up to summarize the only foreign policy that bomber-John McPOW has ever espoused: namely, "Wherever the [American] soldier plants his boot, there he must remain." I mean, if the inarticulate and ditzy Ms Palin can't even memorize that one comprehensive statement about McBush, then I doubt she will fare well at all against Senator Biden who has already presented his team's side of the story.

Liam you have TOTALLY been goaded. You realize all of this is to LOWER EXPECTATIONS and now you are going along with it.

So you believe that the McCain camp had Sarah go on CBS with Couric, and intentionally talk like a complete imbecile, get panned by even the most dedicated right wing columnists, as a lower expectations gambit.
That sounds absurd to me. If they did what you are claiming, then they are even more stupid than most of us already thought.
Her interview performances have driven her negative ratings through the roof, and her favorable ones into the basement, all intentionally according to you, in order to risk all, on how she will perform in one debate.
That strikes me as absurd.
