McCain: Ready to Gaffe on day one - Still promotes deregulation on 60 minutes
This is getting ridiculous. McCain on 60 minutes tonight decided to once AGAIN stick obstinately to his support for deregulation after this last week stating that we needed more regulation. My head is spinning, my mouth is hanging open in awe at the series of flip-flops this Senator has presented us in the last week.
Q: In 1999, you were one of the senators who helped pass deregulation of Wall Street. Do you regret that now?
McCAIN: No. I think the deregulation was probably helpful to the growth of our economy.

Seriously. Talk about shooting from the hip and shooting yourself in the foot.

McCain said that because he is a zealot. Whether they are neocons on foreign policy or, Reagan supply-siders on economic policy or, Religious-conservatives on social policy, all Republicans are zealots.
McCain doesn't understand what's going on, or how to adapt even if he did. He is operating purely on faith. A faith in the correctness of Reagan's policies, all present evidence to the contrary.
McCain is a self described disciple of Ronald Reagan. Hell, the whole Republican party claims to be. They are proud of it. They will not accept that not only was their idol wrong, his governing philosophies ARE the reason the country is so screwed-up today.
Zealots like McCain cannot accept the truth that Reagan conservatism IS THE PROBLEM. They think it's just certain personalities, such as Bush. Or SEC chairman Chris Cox, as McCain accused. That's why the nation is still in great danger.
