McCain's Baby Mama Drama
I'm not going to attack or engage in classic schadenfreude regaring the news about Bristol Palin, the daughter of the GOP's veep nominee. However, I must note, for the record, that if this had happened to, say, Obama's 17 year-old daughter, this would have been been proof-positive that Obama was unfit for office. That if he couldn't control his own daughter, how could he be steward of the nation. When you read how Republicans spin this, it really truly underscores the GOP's sense of "traditional family values."
Those people are always having children out of wedlock, but when the right sort of people have children out of wedlock, it's just a "personal family problem."
Intersting....

Of course you are right, the double standard is sickening. But if we leave the family out of it, we can still rip her to shreds on the politics. For example, Think of the double standard here....If Barack had been a member of a group whose stated goals include secession from the USA. Can you imagine the response from Rove, et al? That, her paper thin "reformer" credentials and her history as lover of the earmark should be plenty.

You've nailed it, my friend. As the father of two mixed-race daughters, I am infurated by the disparity of treatment of pregnancy between black and white teenagers. For whites, it's a "family choice" to be respected. For blacks, it's a social problem which must be wiped out.
BTW, in case it's not clear, I am pro-choice, pro-contraception, and pro-sex education in schools, and not in favor of teen pregnancies regardless of race.

You do know that the whole pro-life movement is fundamentally racist. Black woman don't have abortions at nearly the rate of white women.
I have spent many hours in front of abortion clinics protesting the protesters. I always wanted to have a black woman enter the clinic and see if they would descend on her like they do the white women.
I don't normally make generalizations based on race, but this is a statistical thing.

Talk about a double standard! If Obama had made as troubled and as weak a choice for VP as McCain did, the press would be all over Obama like a cat on a three-legged mouse.
The election would be, for most practical purposes, o-v-e-r.
