More On McCain... a fool and an Interview, and oh so apropos now...
I'm swamped with real work - but this was just too juicy to pass on.
Seems a reporter was trying to interview McCain last March on pregnancy, birth control etc. I include this excerpt - but the most laughable part is more towards the end - I just don't want to spoil it for you:

Mr. McCain: “I haven’t thought about it. Before I give you an answer, let me think about. Let me think about it a little bit because I never got a question about it before. I don’t know if I would use taxpayers’ money for it.”
Q: “What about grants for sex education in the United States? Should they include instructions about using contraceptives? Or should it be Bush’s policy, which is just abstinence?”
Mr. McCain: (Long pause) “Ahhh. I think I support the president’s policy.”
Q: “So no contraception, no counseling on contraception. Just abstinence. Do you think contraceptives help stop the spread of HIV?”
Mr. McCain: (Long pause) “You’ve stumped me.”

"McCain is independent, a maverick"---yeah, right. If he's so independent, why did he bow to the pressure from the right wing of his party and not pick who he really wanted, which was Joe Lieberman (widely reported in the McCain camp).
"Being able to step in as president at a moment's notice is the most important qualification for a v.p."---and how does Sarah Palin fit that role? A mother of a 4 month old infant (with Down syndrome) and a pregnant teenager; with an ongoing investigation on abuse of power; and with zero foreign policy experience? Oh, and pro-life even on rape cases and loves to see Creationism taught in schools. Very impressive, indeed.
"Country first" ---- really? When we are fighting 2 wars, the economy in shambles, Russia making trouble, global warming, gas prices through the roof... he picks a woman with no credentials whatsoever in any of those issues perhaps just to pick up some votes, when his age and health could be an issue---this is what he means by country first, hmm... which country?
