Palin Blatantly Lies to Hannity on Accepting VP Nod
Lying comes so easily to Sarah and she told her second and the family's third story on accepting the VP offer from McCain:
- Gibson Interview - she told him she had no doubts and accepted the offer on the spot which would have been in Sedona w/ McCain. You can't "blink" I believe she used here as well.
- First Dude w/ Greta - said the kids were not told anything until
they were well on their way to Ohio for the rollout rally and that he
had taken their cellphones away in advance of a special "anniversary"
trip for the family to keep the secret.
- Hannity Interview tonite - Hannity asked her if she had any
hesitation and she said she did and put it to a vote w/ the "3 girls"
and not her son since he would be off doing his "own thing". They all
supported it. Huh??
In the big scheme of things this may seem trivial but I think it
offers real insight into the mind of this woman. The latter story is
warm and fuzzy but never happened. Why lie about something so trivial? Good coordination with the First Dude.
Hannity
looked smitten and Karl Rove was gushing over her silly, rote answers
that she kept repeating again and again....thank God this interview was
preaching to the choir....

Most of us have met a compulsive liar like this, or at least had heard about them second-hand. In particular, if you've ever known someone who does coke, you'll recognize the behavior.
For those who don't recognize this character, think of Jon Lovitz as the caricature extreme. Now dial it back to a real human being.
Unfortunately, for her, she graduated just a little too quickly, and she still hasn't internalized that the gun store owner in Alaska will hear what she said, even when she's talking to oil men in DC.

In the world I live in compulsive lying is a personality disorder. The only motive I would ever have for lying would be to protect the innocent from unjust persecution or mistreatment, you know, like hiding Jewish kids from Nazis(or Nihilists). Otherwise, what is your motivation for lying? It's either Puffery, working an angle, or covering up malfeasance.
I suspect with Palin it is all 3.

This is the most trivial point people are focused on. This is why the Dems will lose the election. They keep trying to find really stupid ways to attack SP and for some reason aren't focusing on the bigger issues.
When I read the transcript, the "not blinking" seemed to be responding to McCain's question to her if she thought she was ready for the job, not if she would take it. She of course answered yes right away because she's confident she can do the job. Conferring with her family makes total sense and you would hope she did this. I'm sure it's totally plausible that she said to McCain yes of course I want/can do this job. I will run it past my family and make sure they're ok with it.

That isn't the quote, Bill. The facts are she does lie with ease and a shiny smile. Republicans are starting to notice in media outlets beyond Fox News, even if Neocon Sean and Turdblossom are too unethical and compromised to give a shit about the truth.
You need to take a look at how fellow republicans are responding to this continued assault on decency in this country. You can at least consider the notion that it is less about how "liberals" are responding to this or that minutia and more about exercising the cancer that is killing us.
If you are truly middle class then a little more acknowledgment of how badly the RNC has screwed you in certainly in order as well as a more honest assessment of the horrible damage that the last 40 years of neoconservative domination of our politics and economics has brought to America.
Our party has not always been this screwed up. Our politics haven't always been so poisonous. republicans have been the rational and logical counterpoint to the democratic tendency to react with haste this last century. Further back the founding of the nation, we were the voice of moderation and states rights when the democratic predecessors wanted to create a more centralized power structure. The GOP can be grand again if we can only get rid or reform the RNC. Time to eject the neoconservative ideology that is killing this country and making a bunch of ruthless motherfuckers very rich.

Can someone please explain how she lied to Hannity? I don't see where she lied when she spoke to Hannity about discussing the nomination with her daughters?
I re-read both transcripts of the Hannity interview and the Charlie Gibson interview. Still don't see the lie.

I've often said that Ronald Reagan's greatest contribution to American politics was fully testing the proposition that politicians could tell flat-out lies to the American public and no one would call you on it or even remember. You just have to keep the lies coming in a steady stream. Sarah Palin is a great Reagan Republican in that tradition.

As for Palin lying she didn't lie at all, it was a secret where they were going, but then after the kids found out she asked them for their blessing through a vote! It seems pretty clear to me why Palin's story is changing. Some have accused Palin of dragging a pregnant teen into the blazing media spotlight, which could be hurtful to Bristol. So now her story is that she got the thumbs up from all the girls before she accepted the VP nomination. Her family values thus remain intact. Lovely.
Makes one wonder what the true story is behind the sudden marriage announcement and diamond ring on the hand of Bristol on the day before the RNC started? I am sure that Palin would be lying like mad about that one, if anyone asked.
The husband-to-be apparently has now dropped out of high school. Doubtful he could have paid for the ring. Notice that no date has been set for the shotgun wedding. Chances are that if McCain-Palin loses, Johnston will be able to wriggle out of the wedding. Poor redneck.
