Paul Newman Dies at 83
A great progressive and humanitarian died today after a long battle with cancer. In the 26 years since it's inception, Newman's Own has donated all its profits, over $175 million, to charity.
In other news, sad excuse for a human being Rush Limbaugh continues to draw breath. If there is a god, he's got some splainin' to do.

He was smiling...That's right. You know, that, that Luke smile of his. He had it on his face right to the very end. Hell, if they didn't know it 'fore, they could tell right then that they weren't a-gonna beat him. That old Luke smile. Old Luke, he was some boy. Cool Hand Luke. Hell, he's a natural-born world-shaker.

I love the movie "The Verdict." Great performance by Newman, low key, spot on. Very underrated movie. When the phone rings at the end, I said to myself, "let it ring," which his character does.
Great man.

Filmed in Johnstown, PA!
I knew it was coming and it still gets me.
“I picture my epitaph,” he once said. “Here lies Paul Newman, who died a failure because his eyes turned brown.”
His other incredible effort, other than the widely known Newman's Own, are the Hole in the Wall Camps that are now in places across the globe. His obituary asks that he be remembered through donations to continue them:
"But he remained fulfilled by his charitable work, saying it was his greatest legacy, particularly in giving ailing children a camp at which to play.http://www.holeinthewallcamps.org/donate_now.aspx
“We are such spendthrifts with our lives,” Mr. Newman once told a reporter. “The trick of living is to slip on and off the planet with the least fuss you can muster. I’m not running for sainthood. I just happen to think that in life we need to be a little like the farmer, who puts back into the soil what he takes out.” "
And Quinn. I'm partial to Sully. Nobody did a better likable pain in the ass than Newman.
