Why 9/11 at the convention?
You and I know why...fear. But I cried tonight. I remember how I felt on that day thinking why would anyone do this to my country. Yes, my country and yours too.
I have never felt so belittled as an American citizen as the Republicans made me feel tonight. And I was never a Republican, just an American like you.
Do you remember the pain you felt when not one, but two airplanes slammed into the twin towers? I remember. I was driving to work and thought that NPR was replaying the '93 event. It wasn't until I was parking my car in the morning that I realized that it was happening at that moment.
My fury, my indignation, my disbelief was just made into a joke tonight by the Republican Party. No, they didn't intend it to be a joke, they only wanted to stoke my fear. They are counting on the fact that few people in America actually knew someone who died in the towers. How dispicable. How truely vulgar. How cowardly!
How base it is, that a man that was imprisoned in a POW camp and tortured, rolled out that video thinking I would be afraid. Right now, I'm not afraid. I'm sad. I'm sad at what America has become. That we can use a national tragedy as a political ralying cry for either party.
My mind is simply reeling after tonight and it can't stop thinking: Fuck This Shit.

Keith Olberman apologized to viewers about the fact that this was used at the RNC.
Perhaps the Republicans don't realize what terrible advertising this is for their party.
The day after 9/11, John McCain said 'next stop Bhagdad'. Lies and distortions were used to take us to war in Iraq... Osama Bin Laden is out there running around (if he is actually responsible this is tragic). So many innocent Iraqi's have died because 9/11 was used, our fears were used to manipulate us and weaken our civil liberties. The republicans don't understand what they did when they told us to go shopping, engaged in war profiteering while putting us in greater and greater debt to China, all for power and control... using our fear.
They must understand that after a while you do this to an american and we will turn into Rambo...I feel like an amazon warrior that could kick a pit bull into the next century because I have taken too much of their bs., their ignorance, their abuse. We americans are good people, we care about each other, we care about the world, we want the best for everyone and I am done taking it up the backside from these sick, terrified, greedy, control-freak neocons that think they understand what is best for us and this world. They are clueless.
