Why They Should Fear Biden's Speech
I’ve been trying to put my finger on exactly what it is that gets me so worked up over Biden’s recent speech and I think I’ve finally got it.
He sounds like one of the generals of old riding out in front of his troops in the field and inspiring his men to march into battle with him. He’s reminding us that we have the better plan, we have the stronger army and the enemy lashes out so fiercely because it is weak; it fears us.
Palin is a ruse designed to lead us into terrain favorable to them where an ambush awaits.
If we stick to our plans, stick to our strengths, we will be victorious.
Biden reminds me of all this and makes me feel more confident than ever that we can win this fucking thing and win it big. Thanks for helping show us the way.
Now take this on the road to rally the rest of the troops!
The man really seems to have found his stride, which means Obama’s got one hell of a field general out there for him.

I think that the very real, very authentic outrage and disdain of Biden's speech matched up against the artificial, scripted, and snide type of attack contained in Palin's speech is very telling. I just wish you could play them, one after another (Palin's first, as it occurred), for every voter in this country. -- She's putting on a performance, giving a totally fake smile while spewing filth; Biden is speaking from his gut and he looks just as angry and offended as his words sound and as (without doubt) he feels.
I'm an admitted long-time fan of Biden's, but I think most people can see that he's going to be a very able, enlivening, and complimentary partner for Obama. And, Lordy, it has to feel good to Obama to have someone else out there in the spotlight with him, saying some of the things that he simply can't say. Biden will never come across as an 'angry young black man' - an image that would be fatal to Obama -- so he can express (eloquently) the anger from this side.
I read somewhere that Joe Biden is a very good argument for why Obama should be running *now,* even though it feels too soon in his career in many ways. Biden is without question seasoned (and bright, and articulate, and experienced) enough to be an excellent president ...... and look how he fared in the primaries. Who's to say the same wouldn't happen to Obama if he had waited -- being someone who becomes so familiar you just overlook what is there.
I'm keeping the link to that video of Biden's PA speech and pull it out when I need a little shot of resolve after particularly nasty bits coming from the Republican campaign.
"One hell of a field general" is absolutely correct.

It's like he's won the playoff and now he's in the World Series, so whatever happens this will be his crowning moment and he's decided to go for broke.

Elizabeth2, a lot of the voters respond well to ignorant, smirking contempt. Those are Bush's political "talents" in a nutshell.
I loved Biden's passion. It is not a direct counter, though, to this woman's smallness, mean-spirited smugness, acute lack of awareness, and bigotry. A lot of American voters are looking for just those traits in a candidate.

I have such a hard time believing that anyone would prefer the divisive, mean/snarky small-mindedness of Palin/McCain over the inclusive hopefulness of Obama/Biden.
