Barbara Comstock's Chicago
Barbara Comstock (who was with the Romney campaign in the spring) was on MSNBC this morning, saying that it was Hillary Clinton who had first attacked Obama on his "links" to Ayers and Rezko (true) and that Obama had gotten past that by relying on the "radical-leftist, Chicago political machine, supporters" (or base, or whatever…I was too thrown by the juxtaposition of the adjectives to catch the noun).
Excuse me? Last I heard, the "Chicago political machine" was the very opposite of "radical-leftist". Does Ms. Comstock not remember reading about the '68 convention? Dick Daley (the elder) is probably spinning in his grave.

Most Republicans don't read history, that's how they can remain ignorant enough to remain Republicans.

As someone who grew up there, including during the 1968 convention riots, to claim the Chicago Democratic machine was leftist is the height of absurdity.
A quick glance through the late Mike Royko's "Boss" would prove highly illuminating to many if not most here. I urge everyone reading this to buy or borrow it, and read about practical politics at the local level. It may prove useful to some of you someday.

I wouldn't be surprised if most of the people cheering (or maybe it's growling) when "Chicago Politician" is thrown out have no idea what it means only that it's meant as an insult and spoken with contempt. Think of the other phrases that have provoked similar responses;
"Community...Organizer"
(boooooooo)
"UN Resolution"
(communisssssssst!)
"Arugala"
(elitist!)
"Peace"
(anti-christ!)
