Best election debate on the Middle East

When it comes to the Middle East, the best election debate was Biden vs Palin. Both tackled important issues, and delved in deeper than Obama and McCain. As someone from Israel, it was important to see who did better, because we are concerned about the future policies of the US towards the region. This analysis looks at why Biden did a much better job. Rgds from Tel Aviv

Thanks for a fair and balanced summary of the Biden/Palin discussion of the Middle East from a friend who has an enormous stake in our Middle Eastern policy.

Mubarak Awad once said he believed that peace will come to Israel and Palestine when the European Jews have died off and the Israeli Jews are all Middle Easterners. Is that a theme that is ever discussed in Israel?

Thanks for the interesting link and welcome to the Cafe.
Your blog will probably disappear down the TPMCafe black hole as reader-generated blogs about "serious" subjects are wont to do these days.

Hopefully, you will post on this topic on the few blogs by "official" Cafe contributers that address these issues; MJ Rosenburg, Etzioni Avishai and Daniel Levy. Your contributions will have the higher profile they deserve.

Unfortunately, given the present circumstances, the focus on the economy and the rising tensions surrounding the upcoming election are diverting attention from important topics such as our ME policies. Hopefully post-election, we will be able to return to some semblance of what used to be fairly informative discussions on deserving subjects such as this one.

BTW, there are ongoing discussions between Arabs (of Syrian, Lebanese, Egyptian, ? heritage) and Israelis (a few) on Joshua Landis' blog "Syria Comment". The conversations, while sometimes contentious, are deliberately respectful and you, as another Israeli, would be most welcome there.

Landis and others do a great job of selecting articles/analysis relevent to issues and events affecting the region. The resulting discussions among those intimately familiar with the ME are invaluable "value added".

That said, TPMCafe could benefit from some Israeli voices other than that of the hard right.
