Calling General Powell

I know they used you, we all know how you were used. We all know these men and women of low character hid behind your honor, and reputation . But now is the time for you to come to the service of your country one last time. Now is the time for redemption General. Now is the time to speak up for Obama.

While Powell wouldn't have anything to lose by endorsing Obama, he also wouldn't have anything to gain.

Powell doesn't have a shot at any position in the Obama administration. His public career ended when he left the Bush administration. He gambled by throwing his lot in with Bush and Iraq, and lost horribly.

Conversely, Obama doesn't have anything to gain from a Powell endorsement. He already got cautious approval from Rice, so that tops anything Powell could do from a "reach-acroos-the-aisle" standpoint. The public associates Powell with the Iraq war and lying to the UN, so he can't lend any character to Obama.

Powell won't publicly endorse, and it might be better that way.

Oh, please -- save it. Powell was most instrumental -- even moreso than the media -- in greasing the skids for Bushit's illegal invasion and occupation of Iraq by lying to the US and the world -- even though he KNEW it was unnecessary, and a waste of his own troops' lives for NOTHING.

But that subservience for career advancement wasn't new for him:

Powell was the first person to investigate -- and cover up -- the My Lai massacre.

I would be INSULTED to have his endorsement for ANYTHING.
