FUNDING HEALTH CARE
Obama doesn't have to search hard to get the money to fund health care even after the $700 billion bailout. The Defense Department owns more than $40 billion in unnecessary supplies. Put them on EBay, maybe? The Agriculture Department still operates more than 12,000 field service offices more than a century after industry replaced farming as America's principal business. The federal government knows how to add, but not to subtract.

I don't see why funding should be such a big problem. Currently, we spend about 15% of GDP to get a healthcare system which ranks 15th in the world and 27th in terms of infant mortality, while leaving tens of millions of people uninsured.
The French system costs less than 10% of GDP, provides a higher level of care and covers everyone. In short they have a less expensive system and they are getting more "bang for the buck."
By adopting a system similar to the French, German or Swiss healthcare systems we would be spending far less on medical care than under our current system. The cost of the system would be up to 30% less per capita than under our "free market" system.

The French health care system has been running deficits since 1985. Also, french doctors earn about 1/3 the pay of U.S. doctors. This cannot bode well ofr srawing the best and brighyest into the profession. I would also like to ask how the system being government run will stop the increase in costs?
