Not much attention has been paid to this given so many other jaw dropping examples of ineptitude in that interview but the clip you point to brings up a very valid point.

I actually watched Ahmadinejad's speech on CNN and while it was a little preachy for my tastes, it wasn't any crazier than the shit American politicians say every day, wasn't any crazier than the shit that has come out of Palin's mouth.
Palin is clearly reciting talking points about Iran and the Middle East. They must think we are all stupid, when the truth is we simply haven't been paying attention until now.

Well, Palin may not be the brightest light bulb in the pack, or she just may be is incredibly naive. In either case, her qualifications to be a VP are dubious at best.
My thought is that McCain's goons are so stuffing her head with info that she is having a hard time keeping it all straight. Looks like she heard Hamas and jumped to the part about Iran training and funding Hamas fighters which then led her to Ahmadinejad and talking about protecting Israel from our enemies. Or something like that.
The problem is, ofcourse, that she left out alot of information in the middle that would have helped viewers understand what in the heck she was talking about.

She assumes that they have something to do with the Middle East... Hamas... sounds Arabic... hmmm. Meanwhile, she never answers the question: What happens when democracy doesn't deliver? Instead, she sticks to the usual McCain script. I suppose if she pulled her head out of the bible once in a while, she might have time to read up on current events... and maybe a little science.

Frankly, I think she answered correctly. We have to separate our attitude to different political factions in a political entity from our attitude to that entity.
For example, there was an "imperfect" democracy in Haiti, and Bush Administration, with very thin deniability, supported a successful coup there. Good model? I do not think so. Supporting an unsuccessful coup, like in Venezuela, is even worse. Blithe disregard of election results is not a sound policy, ESPECIALLY in Middle East, where we are pretty close to giving bad name to the very notion of democracy.
Sure, the sum total of her positions on ME is not logical, but a "correct answer" would not be more logical in this context.
