I Know How

One of the things I noticed during last night's debate was McCain's constant use of the phrase "I know how". As in: "I know how to fix the economy." "I know how to deal with countries like Iran." "I know how to win in Iraq." Now, I admit it. It was really beginning to grate on my nerves. But the more I thought about it, a small kernal started to grow in my fertile but undeniably twisted little mind. What a great anti-McCain ad! Imagine, taking these clips from the debate, and making a small video montage of them all. Then our vaunted, deep-voiced announcer intones: "McCain knows how? Really? It was Bush and McCain's know-how on deregulation that helped put us into an economic crisis. "It was Bush and McCain's know-how, that took Iran from no nuclear program to 4,000 cetrifuges to enrich uranium. "It's the McCain know-how that continues to talk about "winning" in Iraq, while he can't define what a win is, or how long we'll be there. "John McCain. Know-how we don't need."

That will only be effective with the awkward image of McCain trying to hug Bush, but I can definitely see where you're going with this! :)

This has infuriated me throughout this campaign. He has reasoned his way out of several sticky questions by saying, "I know how to win wars." Well, exactly how do you know that? 'I know how to fix an economy." Okay...how?

Frustrating as hell.

He has also said at some point in this campaign that he "knows how to catch bin laden" prompting Olbermann to include it a special comment basically urging McCain to share it with the appropriate authorities for the sake of national security. McCain is not good at making persuasive arguments. This kind of talk from him comes off as begging. Very un-presidential.

"I know how" is McCain's way of saying "I'm the one with the experience and background" to solve whatever the problem is. The problem, for him, is that nobody actually believes that he knows how to do anything except take campaign contributions from Big Oil and be supported by Cindy. Wonder how he'll live when he loses and she decides he's a big loser and she doesn't have to put up with his crap anymore. He should remember that he had to sign a prenup, so his new "know how" might be how to manage on a limited income (well, limited by his standards) like the rest of us.
