John McCain's Worst Nightmare
Think about it! He's losing to a much younger black guy with a funny Arab middle name who hasn't been "blooded." Translation: Obama didn't serve in the military and he hasn't been in government long enough to "pay his dues." Not only that, but Obama has this tenuous connection with a '60's radical who fought against the very war that McCain is still trying to win by way of the Iraq war! Everything he tries to do to score points, just winds up making him look like more uot of touch with reality and he's already used his POW cred until it's become literally a joke.
His opponent is a young clean-cut guy with a beautiful family, he's smart, he made it on his own and he inspires thousands of loyal followers. McCain can't even be sure of the support of his own party, since he knows most of them despised him going in and even more by the day are repudiating his increasingly desperate tactics. I'd feel sorry for the old bastard if he hadn't brought all of this on himself by his belief that he was somehow entitled to the office by virtue of his long government service. Even that doesn't gain him much traction, since he seems to have had a very undistinguished record as a Senator and has been consistently on the side of Big Money, in whatever form that takes.
Do I think this is now a slam dunk? No, I do not, because I don't put anything past the power elite. I await daily the announcement of a new international conflict or the declaring of martial law. I worry about the hate being incited by McCain and Palin in their rallies, which are rapidly becoming indistinguishable from a KKK meeting. I pray daily that God will help us all and let the good guys win this time.
But even thinking about that, I have space in my heart to realize that John McCain thinks that he is a good guy and that he must save America from... only God knows what he can imagine he's capable of doing that is any better than what has been done these past eight years. As I observed to my neighbor the other day: McCain wanting the Presidency reminds me of a dog chasing a car. We all know that if the dog caught the car, he wouldn't be able to drive it. Enough said.

Great line and I plan to steal it :)

I love it too!
I'm reminded of an anecdote about a neighborhood dog who gets used to chasing one particular car... but doesn't understand the ramifications of the newly posted stop sign at the end of the street. The moral is largely the same: If you're racing after something, you'd better know what to do if it stops.

The steady, responsible, firm hand on the tiller? The same hand that was goofing off when he tried to skim the water in a fighter jet and ripped the skin off the bottom of his wings. 1 down. Or the same guy buzzing his buddies on the ground and flying into electric lines causing a major blackout in Spain.(any blackout being major in rural Spain)2 down.1 crashed trainer. 3 down. He also was involved in a fire on the Saratoga, when someone accidently fired a missile at his plane while he was in it on deck. 4 down. Then of course he was flying to low over Hanoi, and we all know the result. 5 down. The son and grandson of the admirals was exonerated, but is anyone that unlucky, or was some of it just "plane" careless?
