McCain uses plants at his Town Hall Meetings

Suzi LeVeaux at Republicans for Obama posted an interesting article about the African-American man who was in the front row of a McCain town hall meeting. Come to find out, he is a motivational speaker for hire.

From his website:

James T. Harris is a subject expert in cultural change and societal trends. His proven track record with organizations of all sizes and types shows he is a uniquely engaging individual who delivers motivational awareness and educational awareness messages as a:

- Keynote speaker at major events
- Panelist at conferences and symposiums
- Feature presenter at the podium or to lead a break-out session

I'm confused.

Just what, precisely, does the man's job have to do with being a 'plant'?

How does sitting in an audience have any effect at all on the subject?

Plant as in "planted by McCain to sit in the audience and beg McCain to launch personal attacks on Obama," or as in "appearing to be a random Black person, while really having been hired by McCain to say what McCain would like to have a Black person say in one of his rallies."

I'm still confused.

ALL people who sit close to or behind the candidates are carefully screened beforehand.

Most are long-time campaign workers or donors.

Just what, exactly, is surprising about this? Do you honestly think Democrats do not do it as well> Do you honestly think most questions are not pre-screened (or asked of people whom they know are supporters)?

And does not your assumption that a 'black man' at a McCain event automatically equals 'paid plant' indicate that you are precisely as racist as they are?

Or does ANY support for McCain by a non-white equate to paid cronyism in your mind? If so - that makes you just as bad as they are.

Just a thought.

Aren't you being just a tad disingenuous? I mean, McCain loves town hall meetings. But how much like a real town hall meeting is it when all the participants are really actors? I mean, he doesn't risk getting a question he doesn't want to answer. He doesn't risk appearing in front of a crowd that would be hostile. I think Obama was wise to avoid falling for this rigged setup, but then in general Obama has proven to be wise about pretty much everything.
