Fact Check too fast, and the Fact Checker gets Facts wrong.

But as you will see, there is already debate on this over there (scroll down) pointing out just how wrong WaPo got this one. For starters?
Well, there's the Analytical Engine.
The Iowa State University birthed Atanasoff-Berry Computer.
The ENIAC
And who knows...a Harvard guy may have heard about this. (insert before Eniac if you prefer timelines.)
Again, if we're gonna get picky, dear media, get more correct than has happened in this election. Let's be more careful out there folks.

the computer was originally invented by a bunch of government scientists who were trying to figure out, for defense purposes, how to communicate, we've got to understand that this is a national security issue, as well.

"Howard Aiken and Grace Hopper designed the MARK series of computers at Harvard University. The MARK series of computers began with the Mark I in 1944. Imagine a giant roomful of noisy, clicking metal parts, 55 feet long and 8 feet high. The 5-ton device contained almost 760,000 separate pieces. Used by the US Navy for gunnery and ballistic calculations, the Mark I was in operation until 1959."

See, I'm not a journalist and I knew this. We were taught it during a fundamentals discussion about computers in Web Design. The government was the only body with the money and room for such a monster. Good catch!
