Unsustainable Polarization
It seems to me that the highly polarized US is devolving. we no longer have righteousness, god, money on one side and civics, people, understanding on the other. Currently, we seem to have three very different groups.
Group one is the OMG we f***ed up bad people. They are conspicuous by their absence on the leftie blogs and news sites. These people have their head low right now, but hopefully will come back towards their country and say "OK, if deregulation and low taxes was not the answer then what is?" We can forigive such people, if they really have stopped attacking and hating and start looking for real answers.
Group two is unredeemable. They love Sarah Palin, shout out blatant racial attacks in political gatherings, and will never vote for someone like Barack Obama. The absolute best we can hope for is that these people lose all power and their shenanigans are widely recognized immediately. Popular culture helps us here.
Third group is us. The "toldja so"s. Let's not hang up too much on this fact. Of course, I don't mean that we should not hold GWB and Cheney and many others accountable for their actions. I'm saying, let's welcome their former supporters with open arms. We're liberal. We can forgive. But we will never ever forget.

I know some of these people. The ones I know are incapable of believing that they ever screw anything up. They always blame others.
Polarization of the public nourishes the plutocracy.
