Why Are Republicans screaming mad that they are about to lose due to a massive get out the vote move by ACORN?

My God aren't the Republicans beginning to look more and more like the old Dixiecrat party of the South, anti-Civil Rights, anti-Voting Rights.

What in the world are they doing trying to vilify a voter registration movement?

Republicans are falsely screaming fake registrations to try slow it down.  This is a tactic, its time the American people realize what the Republicans are doing and condemn it.

From Politico.com article today.

The ACORN war rages on. Minority Whip Roy Blunt (R-Mo.) called today for a "full-scale" investigation into allegedly ACORN-led voter fraud in Missouri and across the nation. Up until just a few weeks ago, ACORN was an obscure community organizing group allied with Democrats and pushing for access to affordable housing. It is now one of the GOP's top targets, called out at McCain-Palin events and the subject of untold viral e-mails.

Blunt's call is for an investigation into voter-registration fraud, which is significantly different than voter fraud. Voter registration fraud generally means that people paid to register voters got lazy and faked the registration by filling in the name of, say, a Dallas Cowboys offensive lineman instead of registering an actual voter. Faking a registration is easier than registering an actual voter and the pay is the same. The people who have been fraudently registered, however, will not vote. An ACORN contractor may have made off with $30 bucks for registering Donald Duck, but it's more likely that someone on election day will vote for Donald Duck than that Mr. Duck will show up to vote himself.

While not a major crime, the fake registrations are a problem for elections administrators, as Blunt points out. “Fraudulent voter registration slows down the processing of those who are legitimately trying to register to vote," he notes. "These kinds of activities threaten to disenfranchise legitimate voters who want to make their voices heard on November 4, and underscore why House Republicans fought hard to get a millions of dollars directed to ACORN removed from the recently-passed financial rescue package."

Blunt Urges Full-Scale Investigation into Missouri, Nationwide Voter Fraud Allegations

WASHINGTON, D.C. – A former secretary of state in Missouri, House Republican Whip Roy Blunt (Mo.) today called on federal investigators to respond to widespread allegations of voter fraud by the political activist group ACORN in states across the country, including Missouri, which potentially could imperil the integrity of this year’s election. Blunt issued the following statement:

“Preserving the integrity of our election process is critical to the foundations of our democracy. But sadly, groups like ACORN appear to be engaging in a systematic attempt to deny this basic right to millions of legitimate American voters. Charges of wrong-doing have even cropped up in my home state of Missouri, where hundreds of highly-suspect voter registration forms have been submitted in Kansas City alone.

“Fraudulent voter registration slows down the processing of those who are legitimately trying to register to vote. These kinds of activities threaten to disenfranchise legitimate voters who want to make their voices heard on November 4, and underscore why House Republicans fought hard to get a millions of dollars directed to ACORN removed from the recently-passed financial rescue package.

“Given the scope and severity of the allegations against ACORN, I believe we are witnessing a national trend that must be fully investigated to protect the sanctity of our elections. Americans who come out to vote deserve to have confidence in the electoral system and to know that their vote will be counted.”

NOTE: ACORN had their offices raided in Las Vegas, Nevada, on October 7, 2008, and admitted on October 8, 2008, to submitting fraudulent voter registrations among the 65,000 forms it submitted in Cuyahoga County, Ohio. An Associated Press story out of Missouri today confirmed that hundreds of “fraudulent registration forms came from …ACORN” in Kansas City alone. Today is the last day people in Missouri can register to vote.

I think it's cuz the Republican Party is becoming skeered.

So now they want to blame low-income housing and low-income areas and high-information activists and high-thinking freethinkers like youz and me.

Just my one cent (it'z all I canz afford).

Rec'd, honey.

The Republicans are not complaining about the "get out the vote" operation, as the slick diarist makes you believe. They complain about the anomalies they see in said operation.

Oh, like we worry about the anomalies in the DOJ under Alberto Gonzalez?
