Tonight's Debate Predictions
I predict that John McCain will end up winning the poll results from tonight's debate. Not by much mind you; but enough to use his most desired words "We fought back and we left in Victory".
Truth be told, Barack Obama's luck and debating skills have to fail at some point. Everybody has a 'off' day. He's only human after all.
I just have a gut feeling he won't be on top of his game tonight as in the previous debates. Will he be too tired, too burnt out; Who knows? I just feel that he won't do as well tonight.
One big worry I have is that the media will feel they've been too 'tough' on John McCain, so they will decide to fight the general population's feelings and express their own.
One last worry I have is that Bob Schieffer is moderating this debate. He tends to show his support for John McCain in previous interviews. Always giving him the soft ball questions.
We'll see what happens I guess.
Taking any bets who will win?

Doubt it. One thing Obama's shown that many Dems in the recent past have not is a killer instinct. He sees it, he knows it's close, he's not going to let up.
Stick a fork in McCain, he's done.

He has to play it safe and not rock the boat - or he will appear like McCain is GETTING to him.
I sincerely with all my heart hope he can 'finish' McCain off tonight....but my gut tells me that won't happen.
The media WANTS and needs this story to go on for 20 more days.

The one thing I know for certain:
McCain will crack a joke and awkwardly smirk in the post-punchline silence, 'cause he can't seem to learn that debates aren't Republican townhalls and the audience has been asked to remain silent.

Personally, I think both candidates will be in a four corners position. (Basically, it's a basketball term that roughly tranlates to "running down the clock).
Obama has his lead and the "October Surprise" of the economy only strengthened his hand, so there's really not a lot that can alter the landscape and he has to mostly provide comfort to those who might poll in his corner, but are barely off the fence.
McCain has to worry about his future in the Senate and the legacy of his previous accomplishments, so I think that though he'll probably be a bit sarcastic on occasion (as demosaur predicts), he's mostly going to have to try to limit down-ticket harm and try to keep Obama from getting anything close to a Reaganesque landslide.

Hillary's suppose to be in the crowd tonight. Will that lend support to Obama or McCain? McCain's been USING her campaign tactics for the past 3 wks. Perhaps he'll gain from her presence?

Definitely not. And if she makes appearances on any of the cable shows afterwards, I imagine she'll nail it.
Who wants to take bets on how many times the camera will pan to her during the debate? ;)

It sounds like McCain is in the 'bargaining' phase. He's trying to offer us new tax goodies, new reasons to vote for him, but they just emphasize that he wasn't offering much of anything before.
And if he offers 'one term' who replaces him, Palin? Such a deal.
