The one word we don't hear says all you need to know to distinguish this man from the disaster he is succeeding. The word you don't hear is: LOYALTY.

Think about it. A mature man, confident in his ability and judgment does not place LOYALTY above all other qualities. No Rove, no Karen Hughes..... I am so thankful tonight.

Josh and others are focussing on the PA McCain campaign and their role pushing the Todd story without evidence. That is disgusting and damning. But the real villiam is far more insidious and evil.

From Huffington article yesterday: "...John Moody, executive vice president at Fox News, commented on his blog there that "this incident could become a watershed event in the 11 days before the election. If Ms. Todd's allegations are proven accurate, some voters may revisit their support for Senator Obama, not because they are racists (with due respect to Rep. John Murtha), but because they suddenly feel they do not know enough about the Democratic nominee."

There is no escaping or evading the irresponsibility and, lets call it what it is, bald racism, that drips from that statement. (And of course it would still be racist and indefensible even if Todd's story were true.) It is an outrage that Moody has not be fired or at least denounced by anyone pretending to be a journalist associated with FOX.  Will Chris Wallace, Mara Liaison or Juan Williams even mention this tomorrow on Fox Sunday. How can they not? Can anyone e-mail any of them to insist they bring it up?

Rolling Stone has a cover article by Tim Dickenson called "Make Believe Maverick."

It points out how much of the media and public persona of McCain is pure fiction and that, much as with the current president, his reputation as a "straight shooter" is built on quicksand. Have a read. Will any of this seep into a new debate over personal character? Obama's biography, even if presented as a cartoonish smear ala Fox News, would stand up quite well in comparison, the Weatherman and the Pastor notwithstanding.

I figured it out. Palin can't be as pathetic as she looked/sounded with Katie. The McC/Rove braintrust would never let her out in public like that....unless its a Rovian plan--a Ropa-dope for Thursday. If she comes out on Thursday like she did for her acceptancve speech and blows away the gullible millions, McCain will have another two-week news cycle about how she was unfairly treated, etc.etc. Could it be? More likely she's just completley unqualified to be VP and is simply incapable of formulating a coherent sentence.  We'll see.
