« Anyone have some thoughts on what to make of this? | IIOOII's Blog | New Reverend Wright vector? »

Am I doing something wrong here? Or is it true that I can no longer comment on reader blogs at-will?

When attempting to post comments on reader blogs, I am informed after clicking "Submit" that my comment will be held for review by the author until such time as he or she deems it fit for inclusion in the thread.

Is this a new overarching comment policy? Or do I simply need to flip a switch somewhere to re-enable my unfettered contributions to reader blogs? Surely, the TPMCafe public is dying to hear my thoughts on the great issues of our time.

Let me test it for you. If this gets through, then you might want to go to your "edit profile" feature, and reenter your email and old password. You will also have to enter a password recovery clue. That is what solved it for me.

They are working through the kinks. I am actually surprised they are getting fixed as fast as they are.

I dunno - Beta, by definition, implies a few assumptions like:

1) Some relatively small subset of users, not everyone.
2) Enacted on a volunteer basis - not simply forced on everyone who logs onto TPM.

Admins should have considered running dedicated servers to be tested by a small group of volunteer users in a "beta" environment. Worked out the kinks there (quickly, slowly, who would have cared?) and then go live with the new installation.

For all the great content, and interesting political discourse, the TPM folks are clearly in serious need of professional IT/development support staff. Whomever they have currently running the show does not even seem to think or know about Computer Science 101 type stuff.

We did do a private beta and asked people about a dozen times to join in. This is a public beta.

There are many things that are mass products that are "beta." Gmail for example...

Things should be getting fixed quickly, let us know what you're seeing.

I wish that they had held off on all the software changes until after the election was over. Since they added more server capacity, and switched to a USA based provider, the system was good enough until after the election. Why take a chance on trying to change horses during the middle of our stretch drive.
