Ayers wrote Dreams of My Father
at least if I can trust Jack Cashill analysis of Obama and William Ayer's memoirs. The gist of the arguement is that 1) Obama has very little paper trail before writing his book, 2) his speeches do not have a very similar cadence to the style of the book, and 3) the literary styles and genre (including slight fictionalizations) of the two memoirs are similar.
Presumably it means that this memoir must also be written by Ayers since it is improbable that a Dreams could not come from a novice writer/lawyer from Chicago.
I should mention I have not read any of Obama or Ayer's work....and I find this pretty silly, but something interesting to throw out there....
I guess when one is desperately is grasping at straws for their own candidate....

Yes, Obama, who was the first black editor of the Harvard Law Review, was unable write his own book! Ah, I love that smell of complete desperation.

Apparently Obama has written very little about the law, even as editor of the Harvard Law Review. He seems to have published practically nothing as a law professor in Chicago. I was very surprised to learn that, as most university professors try to publish continuously.
I have been writing professionally, albeit modestly, for several years, and writing is hard work. To be fluid and fluent you have to do it every day. "Dreams From My Father" is very fluid and very layered in its prose. I don't see how someone who hasn't polished his craft assiduously could have written it.... Unless of course, he went into trance and took dictation from the Holy Spirit.
That certainly doesn't mean that Ayers wrote it... But I think "Dreams From My Father" could very well have been ghosted by some professional.

He spent a few years at it, and likely got plenty of editing advice, with an advance and contract waiting.

Dagger on Yglesias posted this link, which debunks CUSUM as a reliable forensic technique.
