I Am On Board The Love Train, and No Longer an Asshat

Hillary, Dijamo, I owe you both an apology.  Okay, I owe many people an apology, but you're the only two names I can think of right now.

See, earlier this year, and all of last year, I spent all of my free time cursing at and shouting about Hillary Clinton and her run for the Presidency.  When I first started blogging here, I had some incredibly bad moments during my run-ins with Dijamo and other Hillary supporters.  I was quoted as being "rabidly" against Hillary.

But Hillary, like Dijamo, has grown on me this past summer.  I had the opportunity to meet Dijamo at an Obama party in Brooklyn in July.  I expected to butt heads with her.  I was pleased as punch, instead, to find myself really enjoying her quiet company up on the roof as we escaped the heat of the DUMBO loft apartment down below us where the party was taking place.  Dijamo was a class act, and never once held my previous, opinionated arguments against me.  We simply agreed to disagree and in the process found we actually could get along very well.  We are both on the same side politically, after all.

Hillary proved herself to be a class act too.  And, like Dijamo and I, I'm sure she and Barack have their differences of opinion now and then....but, like us, they are both on the same side politically, too.

I'm looking forward to Barack and Hillary having the same great conversations and camaraderie in the future that Dijamo and I have now.

I'm on board the love train, and am no longer an asshat.

"No one should suffer ."

Kissing Ass and Being Thankful

Thank you, Josh, et. al. for this place.  I've met so many friends here.

Thank you, Josh, et. al., for the things that I've learned here.  About energy, government, points of view....and people too.

Thank you, Josh, et. al., for letting us have a voice here.  We argue, sure, but we learn from one another even more.  And for that....I'm thankful.

Don't Forget, He and His Family Are Human Too

All this back and forth, and talking talking talking, schmatter schmatter schmatter....

Speculating over who is in his cabinet and who is in his past.

He's a man, he's just a man (borrowed that line from Jesus Christ Superstar, btw)

What kind of puppy?  What kind of Supreme Court?  What kind of leader will he be?  Will he pardon everybody, close Gitmo?  Will he last more than four years?

Jesus, he ain't even in the White House yet.

Chill, and let him be.  Let him be.

Because so far, he's done a pretty damn good job of getting himself there.

Let him be, and let his family be, and let us all be mellow for a time.

It will do us a world of good.

Movement v Machine

When Barack Obama and Hillary Clinton were fighting it out during the primary season, I saw a lot of people write and talk about the Clinton "machine", and about Barack Obama's grassroots "movement".

It just occurred to me tonight for the first time, that Barack and his Movement for Change not only beat the Clinton Machine, but the Republican one as well.

I mean, c'mon.  We all know we're winning this tomorrow.  Don't we?

We all know that machines are big, complex and scary things.  They are established and hard to knock down.  But without movement, machines don't work.

And when a barely moving machine comes up against a MOVEMENT like an earthquake or tornado, sometimes machines get lifted up and blown away.  Other times, they just get broken or smashed up.

All the while, the movement continues moving on...and on.

Note:  This is my first attempt at physics.  Please don't prove this novice wrong, eh?

Goodbye Johnny Mac

Goodbye Johhny Mac
Guess I never knew you at all
You had the nerve to change yourself
While those around you brawled
They brawled over your party
And they whispered into your brain
They set you on to Palin
And they made you change your game

And it seems to me you lived a lie
Like a maverick in the wind
Never knowing what to cling to
When the truth set in
And I would have liked to have seen you
win back in two-thousand
The maverick burned out long before
the election ever did

Ta Da....SCAAMD

Last night I did my first real website work for SCAAMD.

I haven't felt this excited since I first started working for the Investor Relations manager at work, many moons ago, and took control of the back-end of my company's website, where I spent many an hour uploading press releases, updating every one of our commercial properties' site plans, tenant rosters, and property descriptions, and watching behind the scenes as new investors popped in to ask for information and join our email lists.  Sounds silly, but I can't tell you how proud I was of my work on the back-end of my company's website.  I remember emailing all of my family members and asking them to check out the property maps and news links so they could 'ooh and ah' over my handiwork.

I feel the same way this morning. Working for SCAAMD is easier than I thought it would be. The site is very user-friendly and the volunteer work is easy and fun.  I really mean that.

Whether you choose to join us so you can volunteer a small amount of your time and effort on the project, or whether you just want to check out the website as a reader, is up to you.

But please, come visit us this morning as we roll this baby out!! We are very proud of it, and a lot of hard work went into it. Please join us as we roll out the red carpet.

Please join us, period.  Many thanks!

It's No Longer Close

This close, and people still want to argue over idealogy.  People still want Ron Paul or Bob Barr or Dennis Kucinich, and -- Dammit! -- if their leader is not there, they will not vote.

I don't blame them.  If I wasn't for Obama, I'd be feeling rather disappointed and upset too, and I'd probably sit this one out, in protest.

I did it in 2004.  I just dropped out and stopped caring.  Didn't fight, didn't invest any interest or money, didn't care a rat's ass who won.

All that bought me was another four years of Bush.  Another four years in Iraq.  Another four years of frustration.

So I've learned my lesson.  This year, it's not worth it to give up and take the easy way out.  This year, we have only two choices, not several.

It's yes we can, or it's no we won't.

Nothing in between fits or works, so get in line with what you want and stay there.

While We Wait for the Glitches to Get Fixed...

Much as I love Josh and Al and Andrew, et. al., I am having a hell of a time tonight trying to find updated posts and comments here at TPM.  I say we should give these kind folks a rest, and talk in real time, on the side.  If you care to join me, I'll be plumping up pillows, cleaning out ashtrays, and stocking the bar at:

Hope to see you there.

SCAAMD - Calling All Watchdogs

Nothing is more frustrating than reading a news article, or watching a pundit on television, and finding that the truth is being distorted right before your eyes. Maddening as hell, isn't it? Media distortions will continue to be allowed as long as no one fights back with the truth.

That's where SCAAMD comes in. You've heard about SCAAMD (Sudden Citizens' Action Against Media Distortion) for a few months now, if you have been keeping up with posts by Raider99 and Ripper McCord and others. Well, we (SCAAMD) are almost ready to launch our website and introduce ourselves to the world. *But we need your help*.

We need volunteer administrators to take turns running SCAAMD's website. We need responsible, fair-minded, tech-savvy people who can contribute their intelligence, righteous indignation and just a very few hours a week to helping ensure fair coverage of our politics.

Please contact your homegrown grassroots media watchdog at info AT scaamd DOT org if you can help us. We want to launch this puppy this week - just in time to start fighting back against the worst of the media distortions we know will be injected into this campaign.

*Please help*. Thanks.

Near the rally, the Palin rally, supporters cry tonight
Near the rally, poor Sarah's rally, her advantage died tonight

Hush my darlin', don't blink my darlin', ya might still have a hope

The Right Guy, This Time...Finally

I think we've got this one nailed down, this time.  I think, this time, we've got the right candidate and the right circumstances.

Then again, I've thought that one past boyfriend after another was the right one.

Then again, I've never had a boyfriend like Obama before.

I've given my heart away only to have it stepped on.  I've given my thoughts away, only to have them questioned and belittled and turned into brain stew.  I've given my TRUST away, only to get burned.

And that was just Reagan and GWH Bush, heh.

Riches don't trickle down.  At least, not to the down folks like me, without college degrees.  Riches trickle down to those who have a name and a title for themselves before they have their first job.

My first job was as a cashier in Publix at the age of 17.  It's only gone up from there, but it sure as heck hasn't gone up enough for me to feel a trickle down.

Obama is the first guy to get it.  He's the first guy who's come along, in my lifetime, who gets it.  He not only feels my pain, he has the answer to it.

His answer?  Stay involved.  Hold tight to this grassroots movement that is OURS.

His message?  Don't just watch me on television.  Look me up.  Look me up on the internet and join my movement there.  Get involved with me.  Be involved.  Stay involved.  Even after I win.  Because I won't leave you there, cold and lonely after January.

Get involved, be involved, stay involved, because you're going to have a voice in my administration.  You, the people....WE, the people......we are going to have a voice.

Now....how could a girl like me resist that?
